Chapter 139

Allie’s POV

The last few weeks have been the best weeks of my life and it wasn’t an exaggeration. Every moment with Ryder was pure bliss, it felt like we were in the honeymoon stage of our relationship…we kinda were. Even my Lycan was over the moon, her excitement could be felt from miles away.

At this point, I didn’t care what my brother was going to say when he found out. Ryder wanted to tell him the same day we got back together but I didn’t want to rush it and just enjoy our peaceful moments. Besides, I had no doubt that Kieran was going to support me as long as I was happy.

“How long are you going to keep staring at me?” I asked Ryder.

We were in his house which was outside the Pack house, just lying around. He had been on patrol all through the night, so this was us making up for the lost time. I wasn’t even sure I slept well with him not being by my side.

“For as long as I want to, Princess. Because I can, and because you’re mine.” He said, and I felt my face heat up.

“He’s perfect!” Rhea moaned and I agreed. I couldn’t be more happy we decided to give being with him another chance.

“I’m yours.” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

He gently pulled me towards himself, crashing his lips on mine. I didn’t waste time responding and my hand ran through his bare chest…the man was built like a rock and he was all mine.

“Fuck!” I heard him groan, causing me to pull away.

“What’s wrong p>

“I need to be in Kieran’s office, the witch is around.” He replied. If it was something else, I probably would’ve convinced him to ignore them but this was really important.

“Do you want to shower together p>

He smiled softly, placing a quick kiss on my lips. “That shouldn’t be a question, you know I want to p>

About an hour later, we got to the Pack house and to Kieran’s office where everyone except Dani was and a woman I didn’t recognize was sitting beside Katherine, no doubt she was the witch.

“She didn’t look like one though.” I thought and Rhea snorted.

Just as I moved to sit down, a sweet smell hit my nose and it was one I could recognize from miles away. It was only the best thing to ever exist…chocolate cake. Before anyone could attempt to stop me, I snatched it from Kieran’s front and Ryder’s chuckling filled my ears.

“I would be worried if you didn’t react to that.” He said.

And despite Kaia’s warning about the cake being from my mom, it didn’t stop me from wanting it. My mom didn’t hide the fact that she didn’t like Kaia, but wasn’t going to hurt her in Kieran’s presence. My Dad, who was also trying to get into my good graces, had probably forced her to apologize to Kaia.

But I couldn’t be more wrong when after the first bite, it felt like my mind didn’t belong to me anymore.

I heard a voice calling out to me, asking me to come to it and everything in me wanted to go towards the voice, doing away with anything that might serve as a hindrance to me.

As I pushed myself to the door, I felt a weight holding me in place and that almost made me lose my mind as I struggled to get out of it.

“Come. To. Me. Now!” The voice commanded.

It was like being pulled towards a magnet and all I could think about was getting there. Suddenly, something like a barrier began rising and that was all I remembered as I fell into darkness.

The sound of someone murmuring words I couldn’t completely make out jolted me awake. There was a full ache in my head and my body felt heavy. My eyes slowly opened, and the familiar design of my room came into view, telling where I was but not why…although, the details of what happened were slowly coming back.

Noticing my slight movement, Ryder, who was holding dearly to my right hand was immediately on his feet, fussing over me.

“Are you okay, princess?” He asked, his eyes roaming over my body. “Do you need anything? No, I should get the doctor p>

Without giving me the chance to respond, he ran towards the door but came right back. “I should call the witch instead, right?” He asked, but the same thing happened as he ran and came back again. “Why aren’t you talking?” He asked.

This time, I couldn’t help it as a light chuckle escaped my lips.

“Even when he was confused, he was still cute.” I thought. “You didn’t give me time to p>

Hearing me chuckle, he let out a relieved breath. “Are you okay?” He repeated.

I nodded, “I’m okay.” I told him, “but I have been better p>

“I’m so sorry,” he apologized, his eyes looking away from me, the guilt in his voice bringing a frown to my face.

“Did you put a spell on the cake?” His head jerked upward to look at me the moment I asked that. “Of course not, why would you think that?” He asked both his brows rising ine disbelief that I would even think about that.

“My own mother nearly killed me,” I laughed humorlessly. Saying it out loud made

the realization hit me even harder.

I might not have been the intended victim, but the fact that she wouldn’t hesitate

to kill someone else didn’t make it any less evil.

“So, stop apologizing for something you didn’t do p>

Rhea sighed, but didn’t say anything. She was just as hurt as I was.

“I thought I was g-going to lose you, I was so close to losing my mind when you

didn’t wake up.” He said, his voice trembling as he spoke.

“When I didn’t wake up? I’m very sure I’m awake.” I argued.

Putting aside the argument, I pulled him closer to me so he could lie down comfortably as well. It was easy since he moved with me. I wrapped my arms around him, placing my head on his chest.

“You’ve been out since yesterday p>

“What?” I gasped, moving back to look at him.

“It was a powerful spell…I don’t want to imagine what the case would’ve been if the witch wasn’t here.” The pain in his eyes was evident, and I felt a tug in my chest. I took his hand in mine, rubbing it reassuringly.

“We’re never going to find out, okay p>

He nodded and held me tighter, like I was going to disappear if he lets me go. And

I didn’t complain because I know for a fact that if the case was reversed, I’d definitely have lost my mind.

“Where’s everyone?” I asked after a while. It was unlike them not to have come rushing in if they knew I was awake.

“Taking care of things.” He said simply. “Why don’t you focus on getting better for now p>

“Ryder p>

“I’m serious, princess. The moment you’re on your feet, I’m going to tell you everything.” He promised.

I paused, “Am I going to like it p>

“Probably…definitely p>

I didn’t argue as his hand caressed me gently, luring me back to sleep and I didn’t

try fighting it as I succumbed to the darkness.
