Chapter 130

Kaia’s POV

“Let me get this straight,” I began, my eyes darting to Dylan on the bed and back to the siblings, who just told me what has to be the most insane tale I’ve heard in all of my existence and as weird as it sounded, the proof was right in front of me.

“I have the ability to form a shield if I’m in danger?” I asked, and the siblings nodded.

“It was so cool…shocking and confusing at first, but you kinda get used to it.” Allie said, smiling widely.

I turned to Kieran because for someone who was thrown against the wall just the previous day, she was sounding way too cheerful for my confused self, who was trying to make sense of everything they told me.

Apparently, seeing Dylan get hurt somehow triggered my protective side which caused me to release the shield. And it wasn’t just any shield, as the moment it came upon them, it began to heal them as well, which was one of reasons Dylan was alive.

“Do you think the moon goddess is using me as an experiment to see what she can do?” I asked, and Kieran let out a soft chuckle.

I’d admit that the whole shield thing was cool but I wanted to be present when all of these things were happening to me.

“And the secret is out of the bag.” Allie said and Kieran turned to glare at her. She pretended to zip her mouth before standing up. “I’m going to go tell the others that you’re awake. They were quite worried.” She said, as she left the room.

I met Kieran’s gaze, waiting for him to explain what she meant. He opened his arms and I immediately went closer to him as he wrapped them around me.

“Is this your way of preparing me for what is coming p>

He smiled softly, kissing my forehead. “Allie is being dramatic p>

“I’m glad you agree with me. But you have to tell me what she was talking about.” I said, my brows furrowing as another thought hit me. “Did I do something again p>

He nodded before telling me how after making sure Dylan was okay, I went ahead to heal some of the warriors outside the door that had been brutally wounded during the attack and they didn’t keep quiet about it. He said he was certain most of the Pack members would’ve heard of it before the day was over. And it made sense why I was excessively tired.

Once he was done, I felt panic begin to rise inside of me. “Is our pup okay?” I asked. “Why can’t I remember doing all of this? I put our child in danger again.” I said as a wave of guilt hit me. “What if after giving birth, he or she hates me p>

Kieran caressed my arms softly, “hey.” He began, his voice almost as light as a feather. “Lylah took over, I’m sure she knew exactly what she was doing.” He assured me. “And our pup is perfect p>

I nodded, believing him. “What about him? Were you able to catch him p>

He shook his head, “unfortunately. I couldn’t think about anything else at that moment.” There was a frustration in his voice as he spoke.

“It’s okay, baby. I’m sure we’ll get him p>

No words needed to be spoken, as we both sat in silence, different thoughts running through our heads. I kept thinking about what the next ability Lylah would suddenly discover and why she wasn’t filling me in on everything…if this was the reason she didn’t respond to me.

“I was so scared.” Kieran admitted, his voice was barely audible but I heard him… clearly. “in that moment when I was far away from you and couldn’t do anything, I felt like I’d failed you and was going to lose you…fuck Bella p>

“You’re not going to lose me…not now, not ever p>

His lips came crashing on mine and I didn’t hesitate to respond. The kiss felt like he was trying to assure himself that I was still here, and wasn’t going anywhere.

“Seriously!” I heard someone groan. I knew it wasn’t Kieran, so I paused, pulling away to look around. “I can’t escape you guys even on my sick bed p>

“Dylan!” I squealed, running towards him. “You’re awake p>

I ran into his arms, ignoring his silent groaning caused by the force of when my body touched him. I was more excited that he was alive to care about a little discomfort.

“Fuck! Kaia, do you want to hurt yourself?” He groaned, but nevertheless, wrapped his arms around me. I rolled my eyes at him, he was the one lying in bed

not me and he was worried about me getting hurt.

“Are you always this grumpy when you come back from the land of the dead p>

He snorted, “how the fuck would I know? I’ve never been there before.” He said and Kieran chuckled. I didn’t let go of him as I showered him with

questions; if he was feeling any pain? If he wanted me to get something for him?

“Alpha, can you get her off me, please?” He asked Kieran, whose hands immediately came around me.

“That’s rude.” I murmured. “But I’m really glad you’re okay p>

“I can see that.” He teased and I resisted the urge to smack his head. Just like

Allie, he was acting like it wasn’t a big deal.

Before I could protest about his behavior, the door flung open and the guys came rushing in, relieved look on their faces…except Allie, who looked excited. I probably should be worried about her.

They took turns hugging me, telling me how relieved they were. Even Caleb…a miracle. Normally, he would just tell me congratulations or something but hugging me was a moved

whole next level. Then the

to Dylan, who repeatedly threatened

to send them flying if they didn’t stop hugging him and it was fun to

watch.

Once that was over, we made ourselves comfortable on the couch, with Allie and Ryder sitting beside Dylan on the bed. I made a mental note to ask Allie, once this was over, how she and Ryder managed to sort their problem.

“How bad were the casualties?” Kieran asked.

I paused. This was a conversation I had been avoiding but it was inevitable.

“Uhm…due to the…erm.” He trailed off, looking at me and I frowned. “We lost about fifteen warriors,” he finished and I gasped.

Fifteen? Fifteen people lost their lives trying to protect me. But now, their families were going to be grieving their loss.

“Bella, I’m sorry.” Kieran apologized. “We’re going to talk about it later p>

I shook my head, “I want to hear it.” I insisted and didn’t miss the worried look that flashed through his eyes before he asked Caleb to continue.

“The warriors are still gathering the bodies of those who died on their side, so for now, it’s hard to say.” He continued. “It was obvious we caught them by surprise p>

It was a good thing Caleb didn’t take the note from the package lightly and actually prepared beforehand. It would’ve been a different situation if he had insisted on waiting for Kieran to arrive before taking action.

“We did and thanks to their dumb move of informing us beforehand.” Ryder said and we all agreed.

“Yea…that was pretty dumb. Except they didn’t send it.” Kieran said, and six pairs of eyes snapped towards him. But before we could ask him what he was talking about, the door swung open again and I froze when I saw who it was.

“Sorry, I didn’t know you were all here. I just wanted to check on Dylan.” She said.

“Mom?” Dylan called, confused.

“What the fuck was she doing here?” I thought as I turned to glare at Kieran. He better have an explanation for this.
