Chapter 43
Kaia’s POV
Instead of going back to the pack’s hospital, I stayed in Kieran’s arms in his office, enjoying the warmth his body provided while trying not to think too much.
Kieran could tell that something was on my mind, but he just watched me without saying anything…I did say I didn’t want to talk about it.
“Oh,” I started, sitting upright abruptly, causing Kieran to go into protective mode. “What’s wrong, Bella?” He asked, his voice laced with concern.
“Are you hurt p>
His brows furrowed in confusion, but he still checked his body just in case there was something he was missing. I fought back a smile at how confused he looked.
“I heard training was intense today and I met some people in the hospital, injured during training and then I tried mind-linking you but I didn’t get a response p>
“I’m sorry you were worried.” He apologized, pulling me into his arms again and I didn’t fight it.
“You know what will make me feel better?” I asked.
His eyes narrowed slightly, his curiosity piqued, “tell me.” He said, his voice low and gentle. He sat upright and turned his body to face me properly.
“Kissing me p>
Lylah scoffed, “if you’re horny, just say so. Stop going through corners.” She teased before I blocked her out to focus on the look in Kieran’s eyes.
“You don’t need to ask, Bella.” His voice was low and husky. “I’m yours as much as you’re mine p>
Without waiting for me to respond, his lips came crashing on mine, sending warm feelings to my stomach. He lifted me easily to sit on his legs as if I didn’t weigh anything and deepened the kiss.
A moan escaped my lips when he left trails of kisses on my neck where his mark
was.
His lips came back on mine, a gentle kiss that left me breathless, his hand began to roam over my body, sending shivers down my spine. My thumb caressed his face, and he relaxed into my touch.
Even though I was close to him, it felt like I wasn’t close enough and I pulled him closer. Before we could go any further, the door burst open and Caleb entered. I made an attempt to stand up but Kieran’s arms on waist tightened.
“Get out!” Kieran growled.
Caleb looked amused, “Alpha, I think you’ll want to see this.” He said, unaffected. I could swear a smile was playing on his lips.
Kieran’s eyes darkened, “don’t fuck with me, Caleb.” He warned.
“Hey,” I called softly, “it must be important. I’ll see you later.” I finished, before he’d
curse Caleb who hadn’t moved from where he stood.
“We’ll finish this later.” He promised.
I bit my lips to hold back a moan, “I’ll be waiting…impatiently p>
He groaned, connecting our lips just as Caleb cleared his throat loudly.
“Bye.” I murmured shyly, avoiding eye contact with Caleb.
I really need to learn how to control myself around him.
“He’s our mate and with a face and body like that, control is out of the window p>
Lylah said and I scoffed, “you never disappoint me…horny wolf p>
She snorted, “says you, who was climbing his body a minute ago.” And I turned a bright shade of red.
Once I was outside, I debated between going back to the hospital, but it was already late so I decided to go to the room. But I soon changed my mind when I smelled something nice from the kitchen and that became my new destination.
But a group of girls chatting and laughing caught my attention and I went towards them, but I soon stopped in my tracks. I
“I heard she can’t shift either.” One of them said.
An alarm went off in my head, “you’re right.” Another one laughed, “why do you think she hasn’t been introduced to the pack formally? Do you think the elders would allow a wolf-less Luna to lead our pack?
They all agreed, “I was wondering the same thing also p>
“It’s Alpha Kieran I pity the most,” the first girl said. “he waited this long for his mate, only to get her. She’s pretty, I’ll give her that p>
Tears welled up in my eyes, I really needed to stop over hearing people’s conversation especially the ones about me.
“She’s nice though, I totally see why Alpha Kieran chose her.” Another one said, her voice was gentle. Before I could bask in the fact that someone was on my side, someone else spoke.
“Yea, it’s her strategy. But it’s all over now.” The girl said, “the former Luna brought a chosen mate for Alpha Kieran and I can already tell she’s better suited for the role p>
“I saw her, I can’t believe someone can be that perfect p>
Deciding that I was done listening, I turned to leave. But knowing my luck, I ran into the last person I wanted to see. The smile on her face earlier was now a smirk.
“Hearing the truth hurts, doesn’t it?” Laura asked, crossing her hand in front of her.
The girls hearing her voice turned to us and a look of horror crept over their face at the thought of being caught.
“L-luna.” They stammered, their head darting towards each other, fear gripping them
“You can go.” Laura said. Their head jerked to mine before scrambling away. I swallowed hard, raising my head to look at Laura.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave you to it p>
She scoffed, “you’re not running away, are you?” She asked, with a raised eyebrow.
“Why would I?” I fired back, hoping my voice sounded as confident as it did in my head. “I just have nothing to say to you p>
Kieran’s voice rang in my head before she responded. “Are you in the room? Are you okay?” He asked, a hint of worry in his voice.
The mate bond
“I’m okay.” I assured him. “I’m just getting something in the kitchen.” I lied.
There was a pause, “I’ll see you soon, I love you.” I smiled when he said that and
a frown appeared on her face.
I left her standing there, to go back to the room. And the conversation the girls
were having kept playing in my head and the plan that if I pretended like nothing happened would make things less hurtful was failing miserably.
But it should be alright since I have Kieran…right?
