Chapter 138
Kaia’s POV
My heart was racing about what the witch was going to say, if the attack was the harm that was supposed to happen or if we should be preparing for it. Kieran assured me that it was going to be fine…and I believed him until we ran into his mom.
Talk about being persistent.
“You can leave, it’s Kaia I want to see.” I heard her say, since I was a few steps behind Kieran. “This was the type of cake I ate when I was pregnant with you, I’m sure she’d like it too p>
Lylah snorted, “what does she take us for?” She asked, rolling her eyes.
Clarissa came towards me, reaching to hold my hand but Kieran stepped in front of me. “Like I said, we have somewhere to be. But don’t worry, I’m sure she’ll like it.” He reached for the bag but she held tightly to it, causing us to raise our brows.
“I’m trying to make amends here, let me take care of her and your child like any mom would p>
I could tell that Kieran was restraining himself from going off on her and it was only a matter of time before he finally snapped.
“Let’s go, Bella.” He said instead. We had barely taken a step when she thrust the bag into Kieran’s hand. “I baked it myself, it has nutrients for her and the baby.” She said, “Just give me a chance p>
If I didn’t know her, I probably would buy her act. But no matter how much she tried to sound remorseful, there was something that stood as a barrier that didn’t make anything she was saying move me.
“We’re not eating that.” I told him through our mindlink as soon as we started going.
“I wouldn’t risk that.” He replied, chuckling.
Since there was no dustbin in sight, we had no choice but to take it along to Kieran’s office, where Caleb was keeping the witch alongside Dylan and Katherine. I wasn’t sure about Allie and Ryder though, those two were inseparable.
Kieran pushed the door open causing the attention of everyone to turn to the entrance.
I don’t know what I was expecting to see when Kieran said the witch was here but she looked just like any of us. She looked like she was almost the same age or a bit older than Katherine, who sat quietly in one corner.
“Of course she’s normal, we don’t walk around with our paws out just because we’re wolves.” Lylah said.
“Point taken.” I murmured.
Just as Kieran helped me to the couch, the woman fell to her knees with her head on the ground. My eyes widened at the sudden action.
“This is new.” I thought.
“It’s an honor to finally meet you, Chosen one.” She said, her head remaining on the floor. I turned to Kieran who sat upright before ordering her to stand up, which she did almost immediately.
That wasn’t weird p>
Kieran didn’t waste any more time getting right into the reason we had her come in the first place.
“I want you to tell me everything you know and don’t leave anything out p>
She bowed softly, “Yes, Alpha.” She said, “Though the prophecy didn’t say who the father of the chosen one was going to be, there was no doubt it was the leader of the clan, whose mate was pregnant at the time p>
“If my biological father was the leader of the Pack, it means I wasn’t an Omega… never was p>
“After the attack, the prophecy was forgotten about until Katherine told me about her.” She continued, pointing at me.
“I started seeing visions about her in danger and at first it was just her in the pool of blood My chest tightened and my fist clenched tightly.
Kieran held my hand. “Nothing is going to happen to you, I promise.” He said.
“Then when the twins powers were discovered p>
“You’re mistaken, I’m not carrying twins.” I turned to Kieran. “What if this is just a coincidence? And the actual person the prophecy is talking about is somewhere out there p>
He sighed, “I’m not sure either, Bella. But there’s no way this is a coincidence…it’s too accurate to be one p>
My hand unconsciously touched my stomach, as I tried not to freak out. “Twins? What was going to be next p>
“Are you sure you can handle it?” Kieran asked and I nodded, “there was no way I was leaving here until she was done with her theories p>
As she went on, Kieran was convinced that there were survivors from the attack but because they were scared of what would happen if they came out of hiding.
The door swung open and the lovebirds entered. I noticed Kieran’s eyes squinting at them before turning away. Allie’s eyes immediately fell on the bag in front of Kieran and her eyes widened.
“Ooh cake!” She exclaimed, snatching from his front.
“I’m not sure you want to eat that, Allie.” I said, and she frowned, bringing the cake
out of the bag. And I had to admit that it looked tempting.
“Just a bite.” She begged, “I know you’re pregnant but this looks amazing. It’s calling my name p>
“Your mom gave it to me, but who knows what she’s planning?” I had barely finished talking when she took a bite. “She can’t kill you in front of my brother. This is just to pretend she likes you.” Allie said, and Ryder snorted.

She wasn’t wrong, if Clarissa wanted me gone, she was smart enough not to use
something her son had easy access to.
But I couldn’t be more wrong as the witch…I need to stop referring to her as that, started shaking, her body trembled, and for a moment, I thought she might fall. Her hands tightened into fists, her veins showing as if something inside her was pulling. She gasped and shuddered, then stood up straighter, her face blank.
Katherine quickly stood up from where she sat and same with Dylan as we wondered what the heck was going on.
“She is talking to her familiar.” Katherine said.
“I sense it she laughed. “The spell…yes!” And after a while, she suddenly stopped and moved towards Allie, who had stilled. Her eyes returned back to normal.
“A spell was put on the cake.” She announced and a collective gasp went up in the air. Our eyes turned to Allie.
“What are you talking about?” Ryder asked, not hiding his panic.
Kieran’s eyes darkened as he let out a loud growl, the sound echoing through off
the wall of the office. He repeatedly called her name but there was no response as she began moving towards the door.
“It’s a compelling spell, it’s going to lead her to whoever put it there p>
My hand shot to my mouth, covering it in disbelief. I watched as Ryder shut the door and they held Allie, who was struggling to get out of their hold. “Alpha-” Caleb called but was ignored.
“I don’t care what you do, get rid of it. Can you do that or not?” Kieran snapped.
She nodded, as she began to mutter some words underneath her breath causing Allie to scream and fight against the hold on her.
“Let me go!” She growled, as the witch’s spell became even louder.
My chest tightened as I watched her go through it. That would’ve been me…I was right about something being off with her apology but Allie didn’t deserve any of this. She’d already gone through a lot in the hands of her mom, and now this.
After what seemed like forever, she calmed down before she finally lost consciousness. But the witch assured us that it was done and she just needed to rest and she would be back to normal.
Kieran attempted to carry her, but I pulled him back so that Ryder could do that.
He sent a grateful nod my way as he carried her out of the office, our worried eyes following them.
What was left was for me to decide if I wanted Kieran to let his mom live.
