Chapter 76
Unknown POV
(From the point where Kieran was shot p>
“He’s alive.” I said.
“What the fuck do you mean he’s alive?” He asked, raising his voice, his eyes widening like they were going to pop out of their sockets.
I shrugged, “are you sure you hit him because he’s walking around the pack like nothing happened p>
He let out a low growl, I could tell that I was already getting on his nerves. Not that it was anything new.
“I’ve never missed, and I made sure to hit him twice. He fell to the ground, the poison definitely affecting him.” He said, but my eyes only remained on him without saying anything.
Everyone knew that Alpha Kieran was obsessed with his mate and as much as I hated to admit it, it was pretty obvious to anyone with eyes.
So imagine my surprise when it came out that she was nowhere to be found. Nobody said anything out loud, but I heard whispers from the members that she ran away. Alpha Kieran was so distraught and it was the best to strike.
He stood up from the broken bench he sat on in the abandoned building away from other buildings. If we ever wanted to talk without the rest of the pack listening in on our conversation
“What do we do?” I asked, after thinking about it for a while but I couldn’t come up with anything.
“Just keep an eye on them for now, when I come up with something, I’ll let you know.” He replied and I nodded. “get close to them if you have to.” he added.
Even though I have been watching them from afar, nothing seem out of place. But they must be hiding something and whatever it was, I was going to find out what it was no matter what it was.
“You know how to reach me when you find something…and whatever it is, make it valuable.” He said and was gone, leaving me alone.
Alone…that wouldn’t be the case if the former Alpha and his wife had not banish my parents even though they were innocent. They hadn’t even taken their time to search deeper like the fucking leaders they were supposed to be. Even I would do a better job.
Although I had been young when it happened and do not recall the entire detail of the event but the look on my parents’ face as they left was permanently etched in my face. Their continuous pleas that fell on deaf ears.
Since they left, I haven’t seen them, no matter how much searching I did, it felt like they completely disappeared from the face of the planet.
I went back to the Pack house where I needed to act like I loved working for the son of the people who tore my family apart. But soon, they’ll feel the same way about what it means to lose someone dear to you.
(When Dani was taken p>
I paced around the building that already seems to be falling apart…perfectly describing my life. I waited for him to show up but as usual, he took his own time.
“That wasn’t the plan!” I yelled, the moment he arrived. “Why did you bring her into it p>
“Do not raise your voice at me,” He said, “if that fucking Beta haven’t gone snooping around, I wouldn’t have brought her into it and she’ll survive.” He replied, nonchalantly.
“Whatever he thinks he knows is far from the truth, and if you’d told me your plans, I would’ve come up with something that’ll throw him off p>
He took slow strides towards me, but I stood my ground even as his face neared mine. “And just in case you’ve forgotten little girl, I make the rules here.” He said, his hot breath against my skin. “So it is what I say and not the other way around p>
With each word, my fist clenched, my nails digging into my palm, itching to do some damage on him, but for me to get what I want, I needed him.
“I know about the note, how did you get it to her?” I asked.
A crooked smile played on his lips, “I had help.” He replied. “You’d be surprised at
how many people hates your Alpha.” He finished, laughing loudly.
“Who are you talking about? Is it someone in the pack also?” I asked again, but he just shrugged.
“This would make them more determined to find you.” I said when he refused to give me the answer I wanted. But I’m sure I can find something with a little digging of my own.
“They can try, but if they continue with what they have, then they have a long way to go p>
I nodded, whatever it was, I needed to get my revenge and fast before he was caught. If he wasn’t going to take my advice about playing it safe because he has some sort of help that he wouldn’t tell me about them there was no way I would go down with him if it eventually gets to that point.
“What’s the next step p>
“If we get the Luna, finishing off the Alpha would be easy.” He said, his tone sounding distracted, like he already has a plan in mind.
“Do you know when you’re going to do that p>
He shook his head, “I have another important job, so that can wait p>
I frowned, I’ve waited long enough and there was no better time than now.
“Is there something I need to do p>
“Don’t get caught, don’t do anything without telling me first. Get me something on the Luna that would be useful, not her favorite food p>
I nodded, “got it p>
Once he was gone I sat there for a few minutes, he was right, if we were going to get Kaia, we needed a weakness but I haven’t gotten anything yet. It was either she was good at hiding it or…it wasn’t possible that she was squeaky clean. There has to be something.
But whatever it was, I was going to find it and fast.
