Chapter 24

Kaia’s POV.

After seeing the look on Ryder’s face, I concluded that Allie would be in a worse situation and I was right when less than ten minutes later, we found her sleeping in the pavilion. Her face was stained from crying.

It must’ve been hard, and a part of me was curious about what might have happened to put the two of them in their present situation.

“Boys can be foolish sometimes.” Dani, who just returned from visiting her parents said and I nodded. “I know Ryder wants to wait for his mate, but couldn’t he have rejected her in a painless way p>

“Painless? There’s nothing painless about rejection p>

“I’m sorry, Luna. I didn’t mean it like that.” She quickly apologized.

I shook my head, “it’s okay. Besides, even Ryder didn’t look good p>

“What do you think happened?” Dani asked me, the curiosity getting the better part of her.

“I don’t know,” I replied. “But I’m sure she’ll tell us when she’s ready p>

She nodded, shifting her gaze to Allie who moved to make herself comfortable. “Okay, but I know the best way to help her get better.” A large smile forming on her face while I couldn’t help the confused one on mine.

Allie’s eyes snapped open before I could ask Dani what she was talking about.

“I fell asleep, didn’t I?” She asked, her voice was low and hoarse, probably from all the crying.

We nodded, holding her hand and helping her up. “I shouldn’t have brought him up at all.” I apologized.

She snorted, “it’s not your fault.” She said, forcing a smile. “I brought myself here. But it’s okay now, I’m going to m-move on p>

Her voice was breaking, my heart went out to her, but there was nothing I could do.

“What if I can’t move on p>

I put my arms around her shoulder and her head fell on me, tears streaming down her face afresh. I looked at Dani for help, but she just shrugged.

“Of course you’ll move on. You’ll meet someone who’d love you unconditionally and it’ll be the best thing that’s ever happened to you…like me.” An image of Kieran flashed through my mind and I fought back a smile.

“You’re rubbing your relationship in my face.” Allie said, a hint of teasing in her voice.

“I dare not.” I told her and she chuckled lightly.

We remained like that for a few minutes until Dani decided she’d had enough of the pity party.

“Get up. We’re wasting time just sitting here and crying p>

Our brows furrowed in confusion. “Are we going somewhere?” I asked.

“We are. We’re going to get dressed, and sneak out to the city and we’ll have the best, no boys, just us.” She replied, dancing.

I looked at her, uncertainty written all over my face. Because the times I’ve gone to the city, it didn’t end well.

“Is that a good idea?” My eyes darted to Allie, waiting to hear what she thought about it

“That’s a good idea, no boys…except if he’s as handsome as Ryder and will take me home.” She said, “and no telling them either p>

And that was settled. We made our way to Allie’s room because there was no way we wouldn’t get caught if we used my room or Dani’s place.

“This is not a good idea.” Lylah’s voice echoed.

“You can’t tell King about this.” I warned her and she just grumbled about how disappointed he’s going to be.

We took turns taking a shower and Dani got started on my makeup while Allie did hers.

Then for our outfits, I settled for one of her stretchy gowns as her pants were too tight. It was a blue gown that hugged my curves and stopped right above my knees. Dani and Allie opted for shorts and crop tops.

I could barely recognize myself in the mirror, I even teared up a little at how beautiful I looked.

“You can’t cry, there’s no time to do your makeup again. And I just spoke to Caleb, he’s with Alpha at the pack borders, following a lead. So now is the best time to leave.” Dani said.

“My car is in the garage.” Allie said, as we made our way out of the pack house.

It wasn’t hard convincing the warriors watching the garage and we were on our way.

“This is going to be fun!” Dani yelled.

“You’re right, I know the best place for that.” Allie agreed, increasing the music playing in the background as they sang and danced along.

At first, I was skeptical, but soon enough, I was throwing my hands up in the air enjoying the lightened atmosphere. Allie was smiling and her happiness was contagious

About an hour later, we pulled into a club. A lot of people stood outside, wearing what I assume is the shortest they owned. The bouncer, a huge man stood, backing the door and only letting a few people in.

“What’s going on?” I asked.

“It’s kind of a vip club, not everyone is allowed in.” Allie replied, not looking worried in the least.

“Okay, and you think he’ll let us in p>

“Mark’s a sweetheart p>

The three of us pushed our way through the sea of people standing outside until

we were face to face with the man Allie called Mark.

“Who are they?” He asked, looking over at Dani and I.

She pulled him down and whispered something in his ear and whatever it was, he let us in.

The club was dimly lit, the air was thick with the smell of sweat and music. People danced and moved to the beat playing from the loud speakers.

“Come with me, I’m going to get us something to drink.” Allie yelled over the loud sounds.

Gone was the sad Allie, instead, a very excited one showed us the way, ordering several drinks from the bartender who hadn’t taken his eyes off her.

It was probably because of the drink, but I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulder as I danced…definitely off beat, but it was fun. Dani had her hand around my waist and we danced together.

Allie was dancing with the cute bartender. He was no Ryder, but he was making her happy, so that was a plus.

Soon enough, I lost sight of Dani, instead a man stood behind me, wearing a weird smile. He tried to put his hand on my waist but I moved away.

“I just want to dance.” He said, his words coming out muffled. And just as he reached to touch me again, another hand grabbed his own, and he let out an ear piercing scream.

My eyes started towards Allie and Dani and I’m sure they had the same thoughts running through their mind when they saw who it was.

“Oh shit!” And boy, did he not look happy.
