Chapter 118
Aiden’s POV
The moment I got to the Alphas’ meeting, I left Dylan alone and went in search of Kaia but she was nowhere to be found. It was as though Melissa had lied about her being mated to an Alpha. I had no interest in socializing with the people coming to meet me.
“Are you looking for someone?” Dylan asked, coming up behind me. I just glared at him and continued looking around. I was still mad at him for disappearing without a word. He was with me because as much as he was annoying, he was better than Derek, my Gamma.
“I-I’ll just look around.” He announced like it was any of my business.
My eyes roamed around the room and when I didn’t find her, my disappointment level multiplied.
“The Lycan King is here!” Someone announced, his voice loud and the excitement in his voice was obvious. Everyone moved towards the entrance to welcome him. Rumours had it that he’d found his mate but he didn’t confirm or deny it. I didn’t care about his mate, but he would be a great help to the economy of the Pack.
My jaw dropped when I finally caught sight of her…and fuck! She was stunning. Each step she took was graceful. “Has she always been this beautiful?” I thought. Jager rolled his eyes, “She has always been, you were too blind to see.” He said.
When I finally took my eyes away from her, I noticed her hand in Alpha Kieran’s arms, smiling and I felt a wave of jealousy surge through me. “She is mine p>
Not letting her see me, I slipped away from the crowd, determined to wait for the best time to claim her. I wasn’t going to let anyone…not even the Lycan King take away what belongs to me.
I walked around while the program continued inside. Seeing her in his arms, smiling without a care was eating me. I wanted to rip the Lycan King away from her…she should be in my arms instead.
“Did you see her?” I heard someone say where I was sitting and my head jerked upward. “She’s so beautiful, it’s unreal p>
“I was so sure whoever the Lycan King’s mate was was lucky to have him, but now I think it’s the other way around.” Another person said. “If my mate leaves me for her, I’ll understand.” She continued and I snorted.
Going towards the sound, I met three girls laughing but the laughter was wiped away from their faces when they saw me.
“What are you talking about p>
They looked at each other and then back at me, unsure if they wanted to talk but one glare and they told me what I needed to know.
“We s-saw t-the Lycan King’s mate in the restroom and we think she’s beautiful.” One of them replied.
Jager growled, “of course she is, and she’s ours p>
We didn’t get rejected by our second chance mate because of just anyone.
Going in the direction they were coming from, this was the chance I needed and it even happened faster than I could come up with a plan to get her alone.
“Don’t mess this up for us.” Jager warned me.
“I didn’t plan to p>
But as my eyes landed on her and her smell, now mixed with the Lycan King filled my nostrils, I lost it.
A groan escaped my lips as I pushed myself up from the ground. I could barely feel my body and Jager was doing his best to heal me even though it was slow due to how severe it was. Dylan offered his hand but I glared at him.
“I’m sorry, Alpha.” He started, not sounding sincere. “I couldn’t do anything p>
“Leave!” I growled to the crowd that had gathered and were staring at me. The show was over and no doubt everyone who came for the meeting would’ve heard about it.
“Aiden, let’s just leave.” Dylan said.
“Aiden?” I spat, “I am your Alpha, and you would refer to me as such p>
He apologized as I finally felt strong enough to stand on my feet, the crowd slowly dispersing. If anything now, I was more determined to get her back…I didn’t care what I would have to go through but her rightful place was beside me and she was going to be there no matter what.
Dylan tried to say something but I ignored him and started going to the restroom to clean up.
“You had one job…one, and you chose to mess it up.” Jager growled at me.
“If the Lycan King had not come, I would’ve gotten her p>
He snorted, “is that what you call what you did back there?” He said, but I ignored him.
The bruises on my face still hurt as I washed away the blood stains. It was going to take time before it completely healed up.
“Why are you so dead set on getting her back? You didn’t even want the Pack to know she was your mate?” Dylan asked, his hands folded, as he watched me.
“Because she’s mine p>
“You didn’t treat her like that when you had her…she already moved on p>
I scoffed, “Why do you care? You treated her like shit, so you don’t have any right to talk to me p>
That shut him up real fast and he murmured something underneath his breath before leaving. But barely a few minutes after he left, I heard footsteps as I splashed water on my face, although light, but I guessed he changed his mind.
“If you have anything to say about my relationship with Kaia, you better keep it to yourself p>
“I wouldn’t exactly call what I saw a relationship.” I heard someone say, it was definitely not Dylan or a male for that matter, and my head immediately jerked upward to look at who was talking.
It was an unfamiliar face, she had a bored look on her face, her hand crossed in front of her as she watched me. She was pretty no doubt, her makeup flawless and she looked elegant.
“Who are you?” I asked.
“Not that’s it’s important,” she shrugged, “but I’m Laura.” She introduced. She wasn’t smelling like she was mated and if she thinks coming to me here would make me interested, then she had something else coming for her.
“What do you want p>
“I thought I could help you.” She started, and I waited for her to continue. I was growing impatient. “I saw…everyone saw the fight and I think we can help each other p>
My interest was piqued, “what do you mean p>
“I can see why she left you.” She said, and I growled at her. Her expression faltered but she cleared her throat to cover it. “You want Kaia, want the Lycan King.” She
went on to explain how she was supposed to be his mate before Kaia showed up and ruined everything.
“Do you already have a plan p>
“Not exactly, but I can find a way. I just needed someone that we share the same
goal…and now I can finally move forward p>
“Sounds like a plan p>
We both left the restroom after
talking about the next plan of action.
While normally, I would prefer to have my things done alone, having inside information was very much important and it would make everything faster, when they least expect it.
“You were gone for a while, are you okay?” Dylan asked, when I got to the car.
He had driven us here, and I was certain it was the only reason he was still here.
“Don’t talk to me like we’re friends.” I told him, slamming the door and waited for him to drive which he did almost immediately without saying another word.
Jager has been silent too ever since
I was making the plans with
Claudia…ha
..whatever her name was.
let him because as much as he also
wanted her back, there were
moments when it felt like he was
already giving up but he would get
over it and see things from my angle.
“So, Dylan,” I called and his head darted backwards. “Yes, Alpha p>
“Tell me why you say you found your mate, but she’s nowhere to be found?” I saw
his body freeze before he tried to cover it with a smile.
“She’s just not ready to move yet. It’ll happen soon p>
I nodded, “and it has nothing to do with the fact that you knew exactly where Kaia
was all this while and kept it to yourself…even though you knew I was looking for
her p>
While talking to Laura, she mentioned something about him being in the Pack. “Uh it didn’t I couldn’t tell you, Alpha Kieran p>
“Stop the car…get out.” I said. He knew where she was all along but chose to play along.
He opened his mouth to argue but he kept quiet and did what I ordered. I would deal with him later but for now, I need to focus on my plan of getting Kaia back and I didn’t want anything or anyone ruining my mood before that happens.
