Chapter 50

Kieran’s POV

Without waiting for the car to stop, I jumped out and ran into the house. Pack members moved out of the way for me as I ran. I was unable to feel her emotions, or hear her thoughts, but I didn’t want to jump to conclusions since she already put a wall up.

As I came closer to my office, where Allie and Kaia were waiting for me, Laura’s familiar features blocked my path.

I let out a warning growl, “Leave my way p>

“That’s not the way to welcome your Luna.” She said.

“Get. out. of. my. way.” I commanded, using my Alpha tone and she did, quietly.

“Yes Alpha p>

Pushing the door to my office wide open, I was met with worried faces of Allie and Dani, but Kaia was nowhere to be found. They stood up once they saw me.

“Where’s she?” I asked, just as Caleb came in, panting heavily.

“She’s in the room. She wanted to be alone but I was gone.

The door to the room was locked, and there was no response when I called her name. This added to my worry. King was unusually quiet, he couldn’t reach her wolf either.

Using my werewolf strength, I kicked the door open and Allie’s gasp reached my ears as my eyes landed on Kaia. She was sprawled on the ground, her eyes closed and her chest rising and falling softly but there was no sign of consciousness.

For a moment, I thought my worst fear had come to pass. My mind raced with questions as I rushed to her side.

“Bella…I called, carrying her into my arms.

“Oh my god!” Allie cried.

They cleared the road as I ran blindly towards the pack’s hospital. I got there in no time, mind-linking the pack doctor.

“This way, Alpha.” He led me to an empty room. I placed her on the bed. She still hadn’t opened her eyes and her skin was also pale.

“What’s wrong with her, doctor?” I asked, my voice trembling. My hand didn’t let go of hers, I needed to assure myself that she was still here.

He checked her eyes and her vitals. I growled when his hand remained on her for

a long time. Noticing this, he apologized, claiming it was necessary.

“She’s dehydrated, but I’m going to fix that. She also hit her head when she fell down. It’s nothing serious, but with enough rest, there’s nothing that’s stopping her from making a full recovery p>

A breath I didn’t realize I was holding, left my lips and the same for Caleb and the girls.

“What happened?” I asked once the doctor got to work.

“We were taking a walk when Laura showed up, saying something about how we couldn’t get rid of her easily. Kaia then said she wanted to be alone, that’s when I mind-linked you.” Allie explained and my fist clenched.

“She must’ve had another panic attack.” I thought, “and I should’ve been with her p>

The last time we were here together, was to get medicine for her and since then, nothing had happened and I was relieved. “Did the drug finish p>

“Alpha, it’s not your fault Caleb started, but I glared at him.

“It’s exactly my fault, if I had been with her, this wouldn’t have happened.” My voice was low, careful not to disturb Kaia.

“You couldn’t have known something like this was going to happen.” He tried again.

And that was the fucking problem, I should’ve known something exactly like this would happen. She hadn’t wanted me to leave last night and I still did, even before she woke up.

If I had paid attention to her more then we wouldn’t be here right now and she wouldn’t be lying down in a bed unable to respond to anything.

“She’s resting now, she should be up in less than two hours.” The doctor assured me, but he couldn’t be more wrong.

Three hours later, she still hasn’t opened her eyes. My body was starting to feel numb from sitting in one position. I held her hand which was already warm.

“Bella, I’m here can you open your eyes for me?” I murmured, my voice was hoarse.

Caleb had gone back to the pack house, he was trying to do a sort of damage control with the Elders. They weren’t too happy when I ran out on them and they were threatening to take action but I wasn’t bothered about that. I’d blocked everyone out and they were pissed about that as well.

“You should go eat something, I can watch over her while you’re gone.” Allie offered.

I shook my head, “I want to be with her when she wakes up p>

“But She started, but her words were interrupted by a loud sigh from Kaia. Her hand in mine tightened and King started pacing around excitedly. He’d blamed himself as much as I did.

“Bella, can you hear me?” I asked, the same time Allie asked if she was okay.

Her eyes opened, and was staring into her green eyes that I’ve missed so fucking much.

“I’ll go get the doctor.” Allie offered, even though she could mindlink him. But I needed to be alone with her. So I nodded as she excused herself.

I assisted Kaia in sitting upright, my hand caressed her cheeks softly, relief flooding my system as she melted into my touch.

“What happened?” She asked, her voice breaking. I gave her a glass of water and she gulped it at once.

“You fainted, you have been asleep for more than three hours. How do you feel p>

She sighed deeply, “I-I’m tired,” she said. She raised her hand to touch her head, “my head is aching too. Other than that, I’m okay p>

“I’m so sorry,” I apologized.

Her eyes scrunched up in confusion, “why p>

“I should’ve been with you.” I told her. “Allie is bringing the doctor, he’d come check you to make sure you’re okay.” She nodded, but didn’t say anything.

Allie came in not quite long with the doctor behind her. He ran a few tests, and assured me that she was okay and only needed time off her feet.

Once he left, Kaia said she wanted to go back to sleep.

Now, I have to deal with the Elders.
