Chapter 19
Kaia’s POV
As we entered the boutique, I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed at the sight. As usual, a lot of other people were picking out what they wanted. They were a whole lot. I wouldn’t even know where to start from.
Allie and Dani, being more experienced, led the way, moving between the racks of delicate lace and silk. I followed closely beside them, taking in the sight of
everything.
“Do you know what you’re looking for?” The attendant asked.
Allie nodded, “we’re fine p>
The lady nodded and left us to go attend to the group of girls who just entered.
As we went further into the large boutique, Dani picked up a beautiful, red corset with black lace trims, “what do you think about this, Luna?” She asked, holding it up against me.
“It’s beautiful.” I replied. “But isn’t it too I trailed off, not finding the right words to use.
Allie raised an eyebrow, “try it on first and then you can decide if you want it or not p>
My eyes widened in shock, “do I have to try it here? I can just try it on when we get back.” I argued.
Allie’s smile grew mischievous, “You can, but that’ll rob me of the pleasure of seeing your perfect body in it. Because I’m sure we’ll be doing this over again by the time my brother is done with you p>
Looking around to make sure nobody else heard her, but a few people were smiling in our direction. Of course they heard with their super hearing ability.
“I’ll try it on,” I started, snatching the corset from her as they both stifled a laugh. “Can you promise to be more quiet p>
Allie snorted, “do you think the people here are shopping because they only want to feel good p>
“Get in there,” she commanded, not harshly. “We still have a lot of designs we have to go through p>
I slipped into the dressing room, holding the corset like it was going to develop legs and fly away. Being alone in the room provided some sort of ease as I carefully removed my clothes and tried on the corset. The lace material glides over my skin easily.
Allie helped me with the straps when I was done. I gasped left my lips when I saw myself in the mirror. I looked like a vixen.
“I’m so jealous of Alpha Kieran. You should’ve been my mate.” Dani pouted.
“Can you say that one more time? I want to know what Caleb and Kieran would think.” Allie said, her voice was light and Dani turned a bright shade of red. “We can share p>
“Yea sure,” Allie snorted, before placing some set of matching bras and thongs.
And with each one, I felt my confidence rising, my body relaxed, enjoying every moment of it. The girls also got something for themselves. The dressing room became our runway.
It wasn’t until Ryder mind-linked Dani to ask if we were done that we decided that we’ve had enough. Everything we got filled with almost six bags.
Ryder, collected the bag from us the moment we got to where he was standing… he was alone this time. He gave me a phone much to my confusion.
“Kieran wants to talk to you, he wants to be sure you’re okay.” He mouthed and I nodded, not dwelling on the fact that it was the first time I would hear him call Kieran by his name…maybe I can convince him to do the same with me.
“Hello,” I said into the phone.
For many reasons, I haven’t been able to mindlink anyone. My wolf wasn’t strong enough and I wasn’t a member of the pack yet. And until a ceremony was held, I was just Kieran’s mate and surprisingly, I was okay with that.
“Hey, baby.” His manly voice sounded on the other end. “Are you okay?” He asked.
I nodded, before remembering that he couldn’t see me. “Yes.” I replied. “We’re done here, so we’ll be on our way soon.” I told him.
“Good, because I miss you. King is driving me crazy here p>
“I miss you too. And we’ll be back soon.” I assured him, knowing exactly how he was feeling since Lylah was doing the same thing to me.
We spoke for a few minutes and I kept moving away from where the guys were talking and laughing loudly but Ryder’s eyes remained on me.
“I’ll see you soon.” He said, as he ended the call.
“He’ll be blown away when he sees what we bought.” Lylah purred.
“He’ll like it.” I agreed.
But just as I turned to go back to where the guys were, I came face to face with a group of girls and not just any group, one that I recognized from my former pack. One of them, Susan, was Brianne’s best friend and was also one of the main people who took turns in bullying me.
“Is this really you, Kaia? I mean, I thought I saw you earlier but it’s really you.” She laughed.
My throat tightened, “don’t let her get to you, Kaia.” I murmured as I plastered a smile on my face. “Hi Susan, it’s good to see you again.” I lied. Nothing good could come out of that pack.
“It’s good to see you again.” She mimicked, causing the other girls to laugh.
“I’ll let you get back to your shopping p>
But she wasn’t done, “did you eat a house? No wonder Alpha Aiden didn’t want you.” She mocked, looking at me from head to toe, wearing a disgusted look.
My face heats up in embarrassment and I unconsciously wrap my hands around me. I wasn’t going to give them that satisfaction they were looking for. “Did he tell you anything?” I heard myself ask.
She scoffed, “he’s too busy preparing for the birth of the future Alpha p>
“Or why do you think Luna isn’t here?” One of the girls added.
“You have Kieran now, what that coward does is his business.” Lylah’s voice echoed in my mind.
“Congratulations then.” I murmured.
“They don’t need your bad luck, Beta Dylan already has to deal with the consequences of your actions.” Susan said, and at the mention of my stepbrother, my ears perked upward.
“What happened to Dylan?” I asked, but a glare was thrown my way.
“It’s Beta to you.” She snapped, her eyes shooting daggers at me.
Ignoring her, I grabbed her hand as she turned to leave. Dylan might have been my bully but he was also the reason I found Kieran. “Tell me what happened to him.” I demanded.
“You have developed some wits, I’ll give you that, but you should stick to your place.” She said, raising her hand to hit me, but it never came.
Ryder was holding her hand while Dani and Allie stood in front of her.
The confident Susan who was in front of me was gone as fear filled her eyes.
“Are you okay, Luna?” Ryder asked and I nodded. I heard him mutter something about how Kieran was going to kill him.
“Why don’t guys take Luna to the car while I take care of this? He said and the girls nodded, holding my hand and led me away. But I couldn’t shake off what she said about Dylan away.
Ryder joined us about ten minutes later, and he didn’t look happy one bit as he started driving.
The drive back to the pack was quiet, they gave up asking me questions when I didn’t say anything. I was relieved when we finally drove into the pack house where Kieran was waiting for us while pacing around.
As soon as the car stopped, he ran towards us and wrapped his arms around me and I did the same, taking in his scent which calmed me down. And the tears I didn’t realize I was holding, came rushing down.
