Chapter 40

Kieran’s Pov

As I made my way out of the room, I couldn’t help but play the events of the previous day. She’d enjoyed her day and so had I. But all of sudden, she couldn’t stand the sight of me.

My heart felt tight and King had been very quiet since she started ignoring us, we were even blocked out of her mind.

I definitely didn’t sleep well and now, I am lost in thoughts.

“What?” I asked harshly and they gulped, I considered apologizing for my tone but I was feeling too hurt and preoccupied by thoughts of kaia to even think of doing anything else.

“We have to go train with the new recruits, Alpha” And with that, they both left me in the office alone and I felt the wheels in my head turn.

What recruits? Recruiting of new warriors was not till a month from now.

I didn’t care to think much about it because my mind soon went back to Kaia’s behavior for the past two days and I was back to my moody self.

“Did something happen while she went back to the room?” I racked my brain at the reason she was ignoring me but nothing came up and I resisted the urge to slam my hand on my desk, it had already been changed before and I had no intention of becoming the Alpha who broke his desks in frustration.

Although the idea was a little bit tempting, I needed to know what happened and I knew sitting here brooding about it wouldn’t get me the answer I needed.

But I had nothing to do, who would I ask about this situation I found myself into? Her friend, Dani.

I quickly mind linked Dani who answered almost immediately.

“Alpha” She greeted me and I nodded, not in the mood for pleasantries.

“Dani, you know kaia right?” I began and she nodded.

“So you should know what’s up with her?” I ask, holding my breath.

“I’m sorry, Alpha, but I have no idea what is up with her, she has been off lately” She explained to me and I sighed into the link, exhausted, before ending the mindlink.

“Well that didn’t go over so well” King’s voice filled my head and I sighed.

“You’re back!” I exclaimed dryly and he rolled his eyes.

I asked him if he knew anything about what could be going on with Kaia, but he shook his head, “I have no idea, even Lylah doesn’t want to talk to me too.” He complained.

“Could you try asking lylah again, I’m worried about them” I asked him and he nodded before he disappeared from my head.

I didn’t like where I was? I didn’t like not knowing what was up with my mate?

I again tried to mind link her but came up short, receiving no reply or any response that she even heard me self.

With an angry groan, I slammed my hands on to the desk and faintly heard a crack and crash but I paid it no heed.

King returned after a while, and he was fuming. He first paced around, before recounting his conversation with Lylah and with each word, my fist clenched, anger welling up within me.

“She had no right p>

I had to go find her! I quickly stood up and made my way to our room. It was all my fault for thinking my mom would accept her into the family.

The door was locked as expected, but I wasn’t taking no for an answer. I knew she was inside.

“Bella!” I called but there was no response. “I’m not going to leave here if you don’t open this door.” I told her. There was no movement, but not long after, I heard shuffling before the door was thrown open.

She was already dressing up to leave the room. Going back to the closet, she started going through her clothes, not paying attention to me.

“Look at me, Bella.” I called, but nothing.

“I know you met my mom.” I started, and she froze. “I’m so sorry you had to listen to her. Nothing she said is true p>

She turned to face me, her eyes holding unshed tears. I struggled with trying to remain calm for her sake.

“Come here.” I said softly, opening my arms for her and after a minute, she rushed into them and began to sob.

I felt my heart cry along with her as my eyes stung at the amount of pain that I felt from the now open bond. And that was only a fraction of what she was feeling.

“I’m so sorry, Bella. I had no idea she would come up to you, can you even forgive me for not protecting you?” I ask with a low voice as I kissed her head softly as she shook in my hands.

“She hates me so much Kieran” She cried. Her crying was becoming too frequent for my liking.

“It’s her loss, Bella. I assure you everything she said is not true. You are not wolf- less, you have Lylah and you’re the strongest person I’ve ever seen.” She gave a bitter chuckle at that and I gently took her face in my hands, raising her head up so she could see the honesty in my eyes.

“You’re saying tha p>

“Because I’m your mate? No, I’m saying this because I know, you’re very strong, you’re my Luna and no one can change that, not even my mom” I reassured her and after a long while, she gave me a nod of acceptance.

“But p>

“No buts okay, come here” I brought her back to me and slowly began to rock her, all the while my face was tightened with anger at my mom.

I would deal with my mom later, but now, I don’t want to think of anything else and just enjoy being with her. The last two days were hell without her and I needed to make up for it.
