Chapter 59
Kaia’s pov
A smile covered my face as I thought about the previous day. I could still feel his hands on my skin, all over my body.
“Lylah, you’ve been quiet, what do you think?” I asked, expecting her to give some form of comment. Probably about his body or how she was proud of me…just something. But there was no response.
“Lylah?” I called again but it was the same thing.
I stood up from bed, ignoring the slight soreness I felt. Picking a random cloth, I threw it on and made my way out of the room hurriedly.
“Was Lylah okay?” I wondered, “did something happen to her?
Too worried to care about anything else, I ignored the stares I got from the pack members as I made my way to Kieran’s office. He’d woken me up to tell me he was leaving.
Pushing the door opened without bothering to knock, I saw Caleb and Ryder seated in front of him. They stood up once they saw me and bowed their heads. While Ryder had a relieved smile on his face, Caleb couldn’t be bothered.
“We’re so happy you’re okay, Luna.” Ryder said, and I nodded, murmuring a quiet thank you.
Kieran noticed the look on my face and signaled for me to come closer which I did without hesitation. I sat on his lap and threw my hands around him, as my eyes started to burn due to unshed tears.
“Are you okay, Bella?” He asked, whispering in my ear.
I shook my head, “Lylah’s gone.” I told him. “She hasn’t said anything to me since
I woke up and even now, it feels like she’s no longer there p>
“Bella he called.
“Did something happen to her? Why isn’t she saying anything? Sh-She’s gone, isn’t she?” I sobbed.
He sat upright, wiping the tears off my face using his thumb. “She’s there.” He assured me.
“How come I don’t feel her p>
“Tell me, what can you remember about the day I found you?” He asked.
I thought about it for a few minutes before telling them how Lylah had felt weak
which was the reason we were still in the pack. And how she wanted us to go on a walk till we heard King calling for help and for the first time, she shifted.
“Can you remember her color p>
I shook my head, “I had been so worried about you I started, remembering how
it felt like I couldn’t breathe and wanted to find gm more than anything. “that I
didn’t bother paying attention to it. I remember seeing a white color on my paws though p>
He looked over at Caleb and Ryder, who for a moment, I’d forgotten they were there.
“Is that all?” He asked, turning back to face me.
“I remembered crying and begging you to stay with me and then I woke up on the bed.” There might have been some cursing, but I think they were better off without hearing that.
He nodded, a smile forming at the corner of his lips. “I think your wolf is a white wolf.” He said.
I waited for him to say he was pulling my legs but when he didn’t, I laughed.
“Is this your plan to take my mind off the fact that I don’t have a wolf? It’s working.” I said, laughing again.
Kieran wasn’t laughing, instead, his eyebrows were raised. My head turned to look at Caleb and Ryder who wore similar expressions.
“You’re all mistaken, there’s no way Lylah is a white wolf. I’m just happy I was able
to transform into my wolf…even if it doesn’t happen again.” I murmured.
My eyes met Kieran. If it happens that I won’t be able to transform again, I wouldn’t regret or change a thing.
Holding me by my side, he helped me stand up and then began to pull his shirt up. I bit my lips as his abs came into view. My head jerks to the guys who were looking everywhere but at us.
“What are you doing?” I whispered, blushing furiously.
“What was he doing? He could’ve at least sent them out of the room first p>
He chuckled, “look at me, Bella.” He commanded softly and when I did, he placed my hand on his sides.
“Don’t get turned on, Kaia.” I repeated over and over again in my head.
Kieran’s chuckling became louder and I noticed the guys holding back their laugh and a look of horror crept over my face.
“Can they hear my thoughts too p>
“They can’t.” Kieran’s voice filled my head, adding to my confusion. “You’re wearing your thoughts on your face p>
I frowned, “you should’ve said something p>
“Where’s the fun in that?” He asked through the mindlink before winking at me.
“Don’t you remember seeing me bleed?” He asked, after I’ve managed to put my thoughts under control. My eyes widened.
“You were bleeding…there a wound at your side and leg an image flashed through my mind. “Lylah mentioned poison when you couldn’t…uhmm p>
“When I couldn’t heal myself.” He finished for me, pulling down his shirt and me, back to his lap.
I nodded. And there was no scar whatsoever. I remembered that it had a rotten smell and it was certainly not wolfsbane.
“So how did I thought. It suddenly hits me, just before everything went black, there was a surge of energy in my body before my vision became blurry.
But it’s not possible, I didn’t have a wolf…then I had a wolf, I couldn’t shift…and then I did and now that wolf was a white wolf…a rare one at that. No one had seen one of those in a while.
“How is that, possible?” I asked.
Kieran sighed, “we’re still trying to get more information p>
I nodded. “Will she come back?” I asked, there was a lot of questions I needed to
say.
A white wolf! There has to be something I was missing.
“One of the abilities of your wolf Caleb started, wearing a serious expression. “From everything I’ve read, is healing. And seeing how you didn’t shift until that day, you wolf must’ve used up her energy to heal the Alpha, hence why it feels like she’s not there.” He finished.
This was a lot to take in at once, but it was a relief that Lylah was fine.
They continued talking about abilities, and the possible poison that a Lycan couldn’t fight and how deadly it would be to normal werewolves, but I tuned them out leaning into Kieran.
Until my stomach growled, loud enough for everyone to hear, causing Ryder who was discussing strategies for protecting the pack from the impending danger to stop and look up my
“Sorry,” I murmured, covering my face in embarrassment. “I’ll go get something to eat.” I announced, attempting to stand up.
Kieran held me back, “I’ll ask Maria to bring something for you, why don’t you take a shower.” He said.
I nodded, “I love you.” I told him.
“I love you, Bella.” He replied. “By the way, you still smell like me.” He added through the mindlink. And I turned a bright shade of red before running away, his deep laughter filling my head.
I was glad one of us was having fun.
