Chapter 99
Luna Clarissa’s POV
(Kieran’s mom)
I was struggling to keep a calm facade, the secret I’ve fought so hard to keep was the same one Kieran was trying to pull apart. If he finds out, it would not only break my mate, it’d ruin me. It was a secret I swore to take to my grave.
“Are you okay? Your emotions are all over the place.” Tyler, my mate said, his hands wrapped around me, it was just like when we were younger.
I nodded softly, “I’m okay.” I lied. “It’s just hard to believe that my own son would turn his back on me.” That was true but all for what? A girl who should be nothing more than a slave if I was being generous.
“Let’s give him time, she’s his mate after all…and you know how protective he is when it comes to Allie p>
There was no denying their closeness, but it was for them. Everything I was doing, was for their benefit. Allie was almost twenty one and still hadn’t found her mate and I was only looking out for her.
“Don’t think too much about it, they’re our children, they’ll always come around.” He assured me, but I was far from feeling assured.
The conversation then shifted to the recent happenings in the Pack, and Tyler who was also an Alpha before couldn’t ignore it especially with things getting out of hand.
“The shooters are becoming bold,” he fumed, “sending a witch inside the pack, ignoring the order to stay out p>
He went ahead to voice out his opinion on what he feels Kieran should do to get them. And with each of his words, a wave of uneasiness hit me as my Lycan continued pacing.
Not wanting to talk about it anymore, I went to bed, hoping to get my mind off the thought of getting caught. But the moment I lay down, it was the only thing I could think of.
After laying for several hours and sleep avoided me like a plague, I decided that I needed to deal with the situation before things went completely wrong, I stood up, careful not to Tyler, who was asleep beside me.
Once I was out of the house and making sure I was alone, I shifted into my Lycan and began running. It didn’t take long before I was at the borders, hiding my smell before finally making it out of the pack.
“We’re going to talk and we’re out of there.” Nina, my Lycan said as we
approached our destination and I agreed.
I took a deep breath when we finally stood in front of the house…one I never knew I would be coming back to again.
The door swung open even before I knocked and a glare…not surprising was shot at me.
“What are you doing here, Clarissa?” Elena snarled, crossing her hand in front of her. Her eyes burned with anger. “I’ve told you never to show your face in front of me again.” She finished and moved to close the door, but I put up my hands.
“I know. I just want to see him p>
She chuckled dryly, “why? The one you’ve done isn’t enough?” Her voice became angrier.
“I understand, but this is really important.” I begged.
She had every right to be angry but right now, I needed to talk to her mate. And before she could go off again, he appeared behind her, his hand around her waist, calming her down.
“Clarissa.” He called, his voice deep as he spoke. “Why are you here?” He asked. “I have something to ask, Gerald p>
As I stared at him, my mind raced with anticipation as the memories of our past flooded my mind. He was also glaring at me.
Gerald, was the first man I ever loved, his brown eyes though boring was one I enjoyed staring at whenever we met. With him, I didn’t have to worry about the downside of being a Lycan, of having to follow rules and all. I could be myself.
I wanted him to be my mate but he
wasn’t and was disappointed…mad even. But it didn’t take long before Tyler won me over and Gerald was pushed to the side despite his pleading for me to think about
everything we shared. That stopped when he found Elena.
Then Tyler had to leave for Alpha training and was gone for three entire years: It was just supposed to be a harmless meeting between two people who used to be lovers but it took a different turn once we both realized that we hadn’t moved on completely and Elena was away at coven school. It was supposed to be one night…one night became two and it went on until I found out I was pregnant.
I couldn’t be… Tyler would be so disappointed. Gerald suggested we move far away, start our own family. I wanted to, but the look on Tyler’s face if he comes back and I was gone haunted me, so once I had my son after only six months since I was a Lycan, I handed him over to Gerald.
When Elena came back, she was mad and threatened to tell Tyler, I panicked and promised to grant their requests once I was crowned Luna.
“You have twenty minutes.” I heard Gerald say and a relieved sigh escaped my
lips. Elena didn’t hide her annoyance as she stormed away, leaving just both of
us.
“How’s our son?” I started, once we were seated.
He chuckled humorlessly, “our son?” He scoffed, “Felix is my son. You don’t get to show up twenty four years later and think that you have any claims to him…keep dreaming, Clarissa p>
“Gerald…I’m not coming to p>
This time around, he laughed out loud. “Of course you’re not, what was I
expecting? What do you want p>
I paused, thinking about the best way to start. But there was no way to do that,
especially with what I was here for.
“I’m sure you heard that Kieran was shot a few months ago p>
His eyes darkened, “do you want a pity party? Is that why you’re here?” His voice held so much irritation as he spoke.
“I’m not.” I argued. “It’s…it’s just that…the only thing that really affects Lycans is another Lycan’s blood which is mixed with wolfsbane and a witch’s spell p>
“And you’re here because My son is half Lycan and my mate is a witch? Unbelievable p>
“I don’t know what to do…people are dying and Kieran is digging. It’s only a matter of time before he finds out about Felix p>
Gerald stood up, “that is your problem. And you will not come to my house and accuse my son for your son’s inability to stay out of trouble p>
“Can you just talk to him I don’t want anything bad to happen to him p>
“You’re not even sorry, are you?” He spat, his voice low and menacing and my eyes dropped down, filled with guilt.
A part of me wanted to see him too, see how much he’d grown over the years, but
I doubt that would be happening soon. But if I really was right, it’ll be my sons fighting each other.
I tried convincing Gerald that there was no harm in checking it out, explaining how many people were dying…from overhearing Tyler’s conversation with Kieran before they moved out of my hearing range.
When nothing I said worked, I knew I had to find an alternative. Elena returned, threatening to place a curse on me if I didn’t leave and there was no doubt she’d actually do it.
Besides, I had to return before Tyler realizes I’ve been gone for a long time. And on my way back to the Pack several thoughts raced through my mind about how
to fix things without revealing my secret.
Just how did things get this messed up?
