Chapter 141

Caleb’s POV

There was no doubt that this wasn’t going to be an easy mission. Luna Clarissa wouldn’t willingly come with us for whatever reason and a huge part of me wanted to use part of the potions that could subdue a Lycan but the possibility of her dying from it was high. I wouldn’t blame Luna Kaia, if she refuses to heal her. “What do you mean?” Dani asked, her eyes widening. “Is Allie okay p>

I nodded. “She’s fine. Ryder is taking care of her and Elizabeth already assured us that she just needs to wake up now.” I told her.

“Oh my gosh! I have to go see her.” Her voice came out low, the worry in them could be felt from miles away. That was the same reaction we had but thank goddess she had the help she needed.

“Ryder is with her, but Luna Kaia is alone with Katherine. Go to her instead p>

She nodded and wrapped her hand around me. I could feel her fear and worry through our bond and they were justified. It was like we couldn’t catch a break, and going against a Lycan was like having a death wish.

“I’m going to be safe, I promise p>

“You don’t know that, j-just be careful.” I nodded and my hold on her tightened.

We remained in that position, until Nessa’s face appeared through the entrance to the child care and I couldn’t help the frown that came on my own face.

“Why is she here?” I asked Dani, through our mindlink.

“She suddenly showed up,” she replied almost immediately. “She probably has run out of information and is here to gather more. But I didn’t say anything p>

“Beta Caleb, is something wrong with Allie.” She asked and the innocence in her voice made my blood boil. It took all the self control I had in me and Dani’s smell for me to not snap her neck into two.

“Take care of her.” I said to my mate who nodded and only then did I pull away from her, placing a kiss on her lips before leaving.

The warriors were already waiting for me and as soon as I arrived, we moved, going straight to Luna Clarissa’s house.

Once we got there, which didn’t take time, I banged loudly on the door, taking a stance just in case she knew we were coming. My wolf was at the surface, preparing to take over as soon as the need for it arose.

Because one thing was settled, I wasn’t leaving here without her.

“What is this?” Alpha Tyler bellowed, swinging the door opened. His eyes shot daggers at us but that did nothing to deter us. We bowed to him to show respect.

“We’re here for Luna Clarissa, Alpha p>

A wave of confusion flashed through his eyes before they turned to anger. And somehow, it didn’t feel like it was directed at me. “What did she do?” He asked. “She’s supposed to be in the Pack house p>

I shook my head and gave him a quick rundown of what had happened and a loud growl, which I’m sure could be heard in the pack, left his lips. The pain of hearing what the person he loved the most did and to their own daughter was enough to wreck any man.

It didn’t come as a surprise when he shifted into his Lycan and ran towards the Pack house.

“Beta Caleb, if she’s not here, where would she be?” One of the warriors asked

me.

“She could be anyw-” I paused, remembering how I had followed her to the borders of the Pack after Kieran wanted to be sure what she was up to. But because of the attack on the Pack, I wasn’t sure where she went exactly.

“Follow me.” I commanded.

Leading them in the direction I remembered following her, we left the house. Halfway through, Kieran’s voice came through our mindlink asking where I was and if everything was going as planned.

“She didn’t go back to the house after leaving the Pack house, Alpha. So we’re going in search of her p>

He didn’t respond immediately and when he did, he asked for our current location which I told him. And he was gone before I could ask what was going on on his own end.

“What’s the next step, Beta p>

We had gotten to the last place I saw her, but there were no houses in sight and time was quickly running out.

“Pair yourselves in twos or threes, and comb everywhere. We’re not leaving here until we find something.” I told them, my voice giving away the fact that I wasn’t joking.

So, getting to work, we tried to follow any smell we could pick but after a few steps they disappeared and it was frustrating but there was no giving up. My wolf suggested going further instead of focusing on one spot and without hesitation, I did.

Barely a few minutes in, a print caught my eyes. “This doesn’t belong to a human.” I said, “but it definitely belongs to a wolf…or something bigger p>

“If she left in a hurry, then she was in her Lycan.” My wolf reasoned.

We followed the footprints and where they stopped, human footsteps continued and soon enough, a cabin came into our view. The huge trees around it were doing a good job keeping the cabin hidden.

“What part of giving it to her to eat don’t you understand?” A loud voice came from inside. It was a man and the anger from his voice was unmistakable.

I hid myself behind the trees so that I could listen to them. And apart from the number of times that Kieran went off on her, I don’t think anyone would speak to her this way. She was someone people were afraid to cross or say one wrong thing about, but that wasn’t the case right now.

“You don’t think I tried?” Luna Clarissa’s familiar voice snapped back. “My son wouldn’t leave me with his mate no matter how much I pretend to like her p>

My wolf snorted, “Did she think she was fooling anyone?” He asked.

“She must’ve thought so.” I replied, rolling my eyes. Everyone could see through her act.

“Felix is your son too.” The voice came again. “Even the one thing he wants, you can’t do that and then you go ahead to ruin the entire plan p>

I raised an eyebrow at that. “So Felix, huh?” I thought. “Not only did she have a son without anyone knowing, but she was meeting with his father and working with the same people trying to attack the Pack p>

This was far more interesting than I thought.

“Gerald, you have to believe me, I tried to p>

He cut her off, “you better hope to the moon goddess that Elena is able to pull this off, if not, you can as well bid farewell to that fancy mate of yours.” The disgust in his voice when he spoke about Alpha Tyler suggested there was more to the story.

Deciding I had heard enough, I mind-linked the warriors to come towards me. Then as quietly as they could, I had some of them surround the cabin just in case they tried to escape. The wolfsbane we brought along was a last resort. The right quantity would only slow her down but the man who smelled like a wolf

wouldn’t be a problem.

I approached the cabin and with one push, I swung the door open, causing both

of them to turn to me, their eyes widening in shock.

“Did you bring them here?” The man asked, snarling and his claws extending.

“What do you take me for p>

“Well, you couldn’t carry out a simple instruction, so you aren’t as smart as you think you are.” He replied.

This was fun.

“Get him.” I ordered, and the warriors behind me ran towards the man, leaving me

to face Luna Clarissa alone.

“Get out of my way.” She said, her voice dripping with authority, but it doesn’t override the Alpha command I was under at the moment, so I stood my ground. My eyes met her gaze, watching as she slowly transformed into her Lycan.

The years of training against Kieran, who was way bigger than she was, was finally going to pay off.

Just as my wolf took over, I caught sight of the warriors fighting against the man, who was trying his best to get out of their hold.

Luna Clarissa came closer to me, baring her fangs at me but I lunged forward, my jaws snapping wildly as I tried to make the first move, but due to her fast reflex, she dodged and weaved around my attacks. I could feel her hot breath on my fur, and I knew I had to be quick if I wanted to survive.

I felt something sharp at my side as she struck back, her claws raking across my side and sending me tumbling, my back hitting the wall of the cabin and the sound of the wood breaking reached my ears. I yelped in pain as I scrambled to get back to my feet. I could feel warm blood spreading over my fur. She stood over me, her eyes glowing with anger.

I knew I couldn’t let her pin me down, so I used every ounce of strength I had to launch myself at her. We fought and both of us kept trying to stay on top. I could feel her teeth snapping mere inches from my throat and any small mistake could end things for me.

Forgetting the pain I was feeling, I pushed her away, the action catching her by surprise as she fell, hitting the table. She stood up immediately and rushed to me, her anger deepening.

But just before she got to me, another Lycan pushed her away and a loud sigh left my lips.

Well, that could’ve ended differently.
