Chapter 80
Chapter 83
Allie’s POV
As Dylan pulled his shirt off, his muscles rippled beneath his skin and even if I wanted to…I didn’t, I couldn’t look away. My eyes were glued to his well defined abs and how broad his shoulders were. His smooth skin, despite his tiredness, was inviting me to just run my fingers through them.
I felt my cheeks flush as I took in the sight. He also wasn’t in a hurry to enter the bathroom.
Some people deserve to walk around without a shirt…if he was mine though, I’d rather keep them away from the public eyes.
“I’ll be back soon.” Dylan said, snapping me out of my daydream. And I nodded, unable to trust the words that would come out of them if I tried to say anything.
Once he was gone, I turned to look at myself in the mirror in his room, and it didn’t come as a surprise to see how punk my face had gotten.
At this point, he had only one duty, and it was to make me embarrass myself.
“Do you think being friends with him is a good idea?” I asked Rhea. “Can I even be friends with him if I turn a different color whenever he’s close p>
“It’s a normal reaction, I’m sure he gets it all the time.” She waved it off as nothing serious. One thing I love about Rhea was how she was always on my side, no matter what.
I was still standing in front of the mirror when Dylan came back, he was fully dressed. I hadn’t even noticed that he took extra clothes to the bathroom. He looked refreshed like he did more than just took a shower.
“Sorry that I kept you waiting.” He apologized, his eyes meeting my gaze.
“It’s fine, you were not gone for that long. I didn’t even notice you were gone.” I cringed the moment that left my mouth, “what the fuck is wrong with me p>
“Is that a polite way of telling me that I still smell?” He asked, raising his brows. My eyes widened, “of course not, you smell amazing.” I told him. Seriously! Just kill me!
“I’m just joking.” He laughed, sitting on the bed after pulling a chair for me. “Am I making you uncomfortable?” He asked.
I shook my head, “I’m just trying to find a way to start a conversation.” I told him, which wasn’t a lie except that I kept getting distracted by every other thing. His smell, his face and his confidence.
There was no denying the fact that I was attracted to him physically. He wasn’t my mate either.
“You can tell me about the Gamma. I mean, that’s a conversation starter p>
My jaw dropped, “did Kaia tell you that?” I asked, it was supposed to be a secret between us.
He shook his head, “she didn’t, you just did. Besides, I’ve met the guy and all I can say is that we are never going to get along.” He said, “so I’m guessing something happened p>
Nodding my head softly, I found myself recounting to him the details of what happened with Ryder and he listened without interrupting me. My body soon relaxed, becoming more and more comfortable as I spoke.
“And then Kaia told him earlier that I’ve moved on.” I finished.
He nodded, “now it makes sense why he wants my head. Have you moved on though?” He asked.
Of course I haven’t, but I’m trying though. As much as the girls think he still wants me, I didn’t see it that way and I didn’t want to wait for something that would end up not working…probably it was the reason we were not mates in the first place.
“You don’t have to answer that.” He said.
“I’m trying to, it’s just hard since I have to see him everyday. My brother doesn’t know about it p>
He snorted, “No kidding. Why do you think he’s still alive? Because Alpha Kieran likes him that much p>
I cracked a smile at that as our conversation shifted into his life before he got here, the main reason he was here and I understood why Kaia forgave him easily despite how many times we told her it was a bad idea.
Only when Kaia mind-linked me that it was time for dinner and I needed to get my ass out of the room did I realize how long we’ve spent just talking.
“I guess this is where we call it a day.” I said.
He frowned, “I guess. We were just getting to the best part p>
“I’ll see you tomorrow or when I can p>
He nodded as I stood up to leave, his eyes following me. I’ve accepted that keeping eye contact was his thing and I didn’t necessarily hate it.
“Allie,” he called, once I was out of the door, his hand on the doorknob. “You deserve someone who sees and knows your worth p>
A smile appeared on my face but that quickly dropped when I heard him talk again.
“I can help you move on, if you’re up for it p>
At first, I thought he was playing with me, but when I met him again, he assured
me that he was actually serious. But who in their normal sense would put themselves in a situation that wouldn’t end well once Kieran finds out?
Dylan.
And when I asked him what he was going to gain, his response was that he would have fun watching Ryder’s expression, so I agreed…that was two days ago.
“I don’t know if I should be worried or applaud you.” Dani said, when I told them
how it went. Kaia didn’t look fazed by it.
“There’s nothing to worry about p>
“They’re both adults, they can handle themselves.” Kaia added.
“In that case, make sure Ryder regrets his decision. I’ll try to get as much popcorn
as Caleb can make to watch the drama. It should be good p>
Since we were working in the hospital today, Nessa didn’t tag along so we didn’t have to communicate through our mindlink…which by the way was still a surprise. She could do that all the while and none of us knew.
“We’re done here, I’m so tired.” Kaia said, stretching her body to prove her point.
“Me too. But it’s going to reduce once the shooter is caught and they don’t have to train as much p>
I agreed, the full moon was in a few days, and Kieran was away with Caleb to get what would be needed for it and they would be gone for a while.
“Let’s go wait their training.” I suggested suddenly, causing the both of them to look at me like I’ve lost my mind.
“We can say we’re there just in case someone gets injured.” I quickly added. They thought about it for a while before they agreed and we went towards the training field.
A part of me kept telling me it might just be most foolish idea I’ve come up with and the other was cheering me on, asking what could go wrong?
The answer was a lot.
Ryder’s glare was the first thing that welcomed us. This was the last place we were supposed to be, but Kaia stepped in front and his eyes softened. And although she explained to him why we were there, he didn’t believe but didn’t… couldn’t say anything.
Dylan jogged towards me when he finally saw me, he had a smile on his face, which I returned.
“Hey princess!” He called once he was close enough and I didn’t miss the way Ryder’s eyes jerked to mine at the nickname…his nickname for me or what used to be.
His eyes shot daggers and his fist clenched as Dylan stood close to me.
“Hey.” My voice didn’t sound as confident as it did in my head when I imagined this scenario.
I really should’ve listened to that part of me that said this was a bad idea. But I was already here.
So, here goes nothing!
