Chapter 141
Chapter 144
Kieran’s POV
Apart from the things we found after rummaging through the house we found out belonged to Gerald and his mate after they were banished from the Pack, we haven’t found anything new.
And the location of Gerald’s mate and the son, whose name was Felix was yet to be determined, but we now have names we were working on, instead of just wild guesses.
It was confirmed that this Felix guy was born earlier than I was, which would suggest that the reason he was dead set on attacking the Pack was because he thinks that for whatever reason, he was supposed to be the Alpha of the Pack.
“I mean, out of all the things I knew was wrong with your mom, cheating on your dad is next level.” King said.
“You do know they’re your parents too, right p>
“Nah, I’ll pass. But I’m glad he did the right thing p>
My Dad’s rejection came as a surprise to me, it was the last thing I expected him to do. And no doubt, the rejection was weighing on both of them, but my Dad was channeling his pain into spending time with Allie…which was nice, but I could tell it was getting to her since she didn’t have enough time to spend with the girls and Ryder.
“Do they think we’re dumb or something?” King asked and I chuckled.
Ryder was lucky I liked him, if not, he’d be gone and long forgotten by now. It was also fun watching them walk on eggshells whenever they were around me.
“Alpha, Gerald isn’t saying anything, what do you want us to do about that?” Caleb asked, entering the office.
“I didn’t expect him to.” I replied. “What about the things we found at her place? Does Elizabeth have a conclusion on what they are p>
“Just poisons and deadly ones.” He said, confirming my suspicions. “The fact that she wanted Luna Kaia means she knows about her powers p>
I nodded, “Since Felix knows about it, she does. And they are working together p>
He made himself comfortable as he went through the paperwork I had lined up in front of me. Everything right from the day my Dad became Alpha was lying on my desk and I had gone through them about twice but they were exactly as my dad had explained but I still felt a bit of uneasiness.
“Have the warriors search the entire area just in case they’re lurking around somewhere p>
“Yes Alpha p>
“How’s Dylan?” I asked.
Since the effect of the spell was taken off him, and he saw the bruises he’d made while he was under the spell, he made it his duty to avoid me no matter how many times I told him it wasn’t his fault.
“I don’t think I’ve seen him anywhere, but I’m sure he will come around p>
“Send our mate to him, he listens to her.” King suggested. “I’m starting to think Pack members listen to her more p>
I agree, and I couldn’t be more proud of her. I don’t think even she herself knows how much she’d grown from the shy person she used to be to the woman with so much authority.
“He definitely will p>
Pushing myself up from my seat, I grabbed some of the paperwork and went towards the door. Caleb, although confused at my sudden movement, still followed behind me.
“Are you going to the dungeon?” He asked, and I nodded.
If I continue the way I have been going all this while, I was never going to get to the root of all of this. And as much as I didn’t think my dad was lying about the reason for banishing witches from the Pack, I wanted to believe that all of this was more than just revenge.
When my Dad came in earlier, he mentioned how Gerald’s smell felt familiar to him, one that he later recognized as the boy she was with before they met and calculating back, it would mean Felix was born when my Dad was away for Alpha’s training.
So the question was, what happened between them before he came back.
The warriors guarding the cell moved out of the way once they saw me. They were guards I trusted as I didn’t want a repeat of what happened with the shooters who were killed right under our noses. I also had Elizabeth make sure his cell cannot be penetrated, even by another spell.
“This shouldn’t take time.” I thought.
Gerald, on seeing me, turned away but that didn’t last as Caleb dragged him out, after opening the door using the only key that worked for it.
His face was swollen, his clothes torn from all the torture Caleb put him through. And he wasn’t healing because of the wolfsbane in the cuffs that was permanently worn on his hand.
“I’m going to leave here,” he said, even with his low voice, he sounded confident which was amusing.
I chuckled dryly, “well, I’m counting on that.” And I’m hoping that his mate comes to save him herself.
“You’re not going to get anything from me,” he spat.
Caleb was quick to grab him by the
neck, making him gasp for air. “You better watch, or I swear, I’ll snap your. It’ll help you get out of
here sooner.” He threatened and
Gerald’s mouth shut tightly together.
“Now that that’s done, tell me about the reason you were banished.” The lightness
in my voice was gone, as I let my Alpha command slip through my words.
“I-I…he—” He started, trying to fight against the command.
“Now!” My voice bellowed, echoing off the wall, sending other prisoners further into their cell.
He lowered his head. “I’m not sure, A-Alpha.” He said.
I raised my eyebrow, the same moment Caleb turned to look at me. He was under
my Alpha command, which means he was telling the truth.
“Explain…from the beginning p>
His head remained lowered as he spoke, starting from his relationship with my mom, how they loved each other and were even planning on rejecting their mates for each other, but that changed when my Dad came into the picture and he was an Alpha.
King snickered, “I can see why she’s so obsessed with power and position.” He
said, but I didn’t bother to ask what he was talking about.
Then he went on to explain how she
ended things but after my Dad left for his training, and his mate was also away for her own training, they got back together until she found out she was pregnant. He wanted them to ran away together and start a family, but she didn’t want that.
“So you threatened her with your son p>
He paused, refusing to say anything until Caleb kicked the words out of him. “Just for monetary and other things. It was the easiest way to get our needs met p>
“So, when that stopped coming, you tried to kill her?” His head jerked upwards, faster the lightning even reached the earth, his eyes widening.
“Kill? I-I w-would never try to kill Clarissa, she was everything to me. Even if I felt betrayed p>
“You had your mate do it then?” I asked. The confusion on his face made me even more interested to keep going.
Gerald shook his head furiously, “Elena would never do that…since I didn’t ask her to. And she was no use to us being dead. Our blackmail could only happen if she was alive.” He said.
Well, that changes things. Now, the more I try to wrap things up, the more truth I discover, which makes me wonder what I would find out this time.
“If you didn’t try to kill her, why did you go after the Healer’s Clan…why did you have their Pack destroyed p>
“I-I d-don’t know what you’re talking about, Alpha. I had no business with them p>
And apart from the fact that he was under my command, I believed him. And I could tell that Caleb thought the same as he repeatedly ran a hand through his hair.
This means that everything we had before now were all assumptions of what could’ve happened, the same thing I was trying so hard to avoid.
“Tell me what you know about the attack on their Clan.” I ordered, but just as he opened his mouth to start talking, I felt the familiar ruffling of someone trying to mindlink me.
“Where are you, baby?” Kaia’s voice asked.
“Down in the dungeon, what’s wrong Bella p>
“It can wait,” she said, a hint of excitement in her voice made me curious.
“I’ll be there soon, okay?” I promised, and even without seeing her, I could tell she was nodding her head. I ended the mindlink to focus on the man, who was trembling in front of me.
As much as I wanted to be with her, I needed to get to the end of this. Because if he didn’t plan the attack against the Healers for saving my mom, then who did?
