Chapter 54
Chapter 56
Kieran’s POV
I couldn’t feel anything, nothing made sense no matter how hard I thought about
it. It was like Kaia disappeared from everywhere, her smell was gone like the time we spent together was a fragment of my imagination.
“What did you find?” I asked Caleb who was panting heavily. We were standing in an opening in the forest close to the pack borders after searching all night but all to no avail.
“Nothing, Alpha. We will keep searching.” He assured me.
“You should get some rest, Alpha.” Ryder suggested.
My eyes darkened, “rest?” I scoffed. My mate was nowhere to be found, no trace whatsoever, rest was the last thing on my mind.
King couldn’t feel Lylah at all. I get that she could easily block me out and hide her smell but King could always communicate with her wolf.
I was scared that something could’ve happened to her but I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if anything does.
“I’ll get in touch with the neighbouring packs, just in case she finds her way to one of them.” Caleb said, and I nodded as he left.
Everyone went back to the pack house to get a bit of rest. I couldn’t do the same, everything reminds me of her. The moment I close my eyes, an image of her pops in my head.
I went back to my office where Allie and Dani were. They stood up once they saw me. They also had a worried look on their faces.
“Nothing yet?” Allie asked.
I shook my head
“We’ll find her.” She assured me.
Nodding my head softly, I called the Alpha’s of the neighbouring pack, but all of them said the same thing, they will contact me if they see her.
The door creaked open and Ryder came in, a girl following behind him.
“She has something to tell you, Alpha.” He said and my head jerked towards her. She looked scared…that makes two of us.
“Speak.” I commanded.
“Uhmm Luna she stuttered, swallowing harshly. I eased my gaze, I needed all the information I could get to find her.
“In the kitchen once, Ida met Luna Kaia she started, becoming more confident. My jaw clenched at the mention of Ida’s name.
“She told her that you were not going to remain Alpha if she keeps being by your side. Then she asked her to do the right thing.” She finished.
Allie’s face lit up like she suddenly remembered something. “Laura said the same thing, and she asked us when she was in the hospital…but we didn’t tell her because she paused.
My clenched fist hit the table loudly, causing them to jump.
“I’m sorry, Alpha.” The girl whispered.
My legs had minds of their own as I bolted out of the door. She left because she thought being an Alpha was more important to me than being her mate.
How do I make her believe I didn’t care about anything that wasn’t her.
King was howling in pain. He pushed himself, struggling to come to the surface
and I let him as I transformed into my Lycan.
I ran, leaving Ryder and the others behind.
As I ran, I didn’t think to pay attention to anything else. King ran through the forest…we’ve searched everywhere before, but there has to be something we were missing out on, that would lead us to her.
The deeper we went, I didn’t believe Kaia came this far.
I caught sight of something, but my mind was focused on finding Kaia, making sure she believed that I didn’t want to be an Alpha if it meant losing her.
A suspicious movement caught my attention and I stopped in my tracks, shifting back to my human form, against King’s wish. My Alpha senses taking control.
“Let’s find mate first, this can wait.” King said.
“What if it was the rogue that we’ve been chasing all this while? What if he’d something to hurt Kaia?” I thought, panic setting in.
Mind-linking Ryder to check for suspicious movement, I turned my back to continue my search for Kaia but that turned out to be a mistake as a sharp pain hit my leg. I let out a loud groan as the pain spread upward.
“What’s going on?” I asked King, but there was no response.
I tried to heal the wound on my leg, but it only seems to make it worse.
This isn’t wolfsbane…it wouldn’t have done any damage to me at all. Slowly, I felt
my body weakening but I needed to find Kaia…she would also be in danger since she was alone.
But another sharp pain on the side of my stomach rendered me motionless. King didn’t respond, whatever had hit us, was having an effect on him also.
“If this isn’t wolfsbane, what was it?” I wondered. The energy from my body was slowly leaving and I couldn’t mindlink anyone, not even Allie since she was also a Lycan.
“I hope Kaia was okay, I didn’t want to imagine her going through this amount of pain p>
As my eyes began to blur, I saw a wolf running towards me…but probably because of what was wrong with me, it was making me see things.
A white wolf? It wasn’t possible.
The last one of its kind died more than a few years ago and ever since then, no one has seen or heard of any, so I was definitely seeing things.
Kaia’s voice snapped me out of the realm I was in, “Kieran, wake up please.” She cried, my chest tightening as she cried.
I opened my eyes after a while, a bit relieved that I got to see her one more time. She looked tired and scared and I reached out to assure her that everything would be fine.
Her hand trembled as she held me.
Whatever had been shot at me was deadly and with no means of getting to the pack in time, the end result was obvious.
“Let me hold you… I love you, Bella.” I told her.
“I love you.” She replied, my eyes snapped open. I’ve been looking forward to hearing her say that. It made me feel fulfilled in a way.
“Tell me again p>
“I love you…I love you so much that it hurts. You are the best thing that happened
to me, and I’d be crazy not to.” She said
My eyes closed again, my throat tightened and I struggled to breath, “I’m sorry, Bella.” I murmured, just as the struggling stopped.
The next time my eyes opened, I was waiting to be welcomed by the moon goddess…that would be the only explanation for why my entire body felt warm, replacing the pain I felt some minutes ago.
I needed to have some serious conversations with her. That thought was pushed aside when I caught sight of Kaia sprawled on the ground beside me.
“Kaia!” I called, carrying into my arms. There were no physical injuries on her body, it must be p>
“No…it’s not possible…she’s not p>
“She definitely did.” King said.
No. Fucking. Way!
