Chapter 78

Kieran’s POV

“A witch, really!” My mom yelled, pushing her way into my office despite Allie’s insistence against it.

I raised my head to look at her without an expression on my face. I love how she thinks she could come into my office like it was her room. Since the meeting with the elders which didn’t go the way she wanted to, I haven’t seen her…until now that is.

“Excuse us.” I ordered.

Ryder looked at me for a few seconds before bowing and leaving the room. My sister wore a worried look but I mind-linked her, assuring her that it was okay and she didn’t have anything to worry about.

Kaia, who was laying in my arms also stood up, but my hand around her tightened and I didn’t miss the confused look that appeared on her face.

“Why is she still here?” My mom asked.

“Because she is my mate and Luna, and you will treat her as such.” I replied, my voice coming out low and harsh.

Sitting upright, I pushed myself up and went towards my desk, pulling one of the chairs to put beside me so that Kaia would sit beside me instead of in front of me.

My mom looked so close to throwing a fit but she deserves it for that stunt she pulled. And it doesn’t come as a surprise that she knows about the witches. But after now, I’d definitely make it my responsibility to sieve out those who think it was a good idea to become spies for their former Luna.

“That is against the rules of this pack…after what they did, and you know that. Call it off.” She commanded.

I smiled humorlessly, “I think you’re forgetting who is Alpha here, Mom. I don’t take orders from you p>

“Bringing a witch here would only hurt the pack members.” She said, quickly getting over the shock that she felt.

“The only thing that is going to hurt them is if I don’t find those people responsible for the killings…I’m sure you know about that too p>

She remained quiet.

Her head darts to Kaia who was watching the scene unfold without saying anything.

“Say anything to her, and I assure you this is the last thing you’ll step foot into my pack.” I told her through our mindlink and her mouth snapped shut before she turns to face me.

“I think you’ve forgotten that I was once the Luna of this pack p>

“And I’m the Alpha now. The moment Dad stepped down, I gained full authority, and so did she when she became the Luna.” King growled.

The expressions on her face never fails to surprise me but I was gone past caring about what she was feeling. That ended the moment she chose to side with the elders against me.

“Do you have something else you want to say, or did you come all the way to tell me that witches were bad?” I asked, tired of having this conversation with her, especially with Kaia here.

“You have to listen to me,” she started, her voice suddenly dropping a little, like she wasn’t just trying to throw her title at me. “It’s what best for the pack. Many people would die again but it’d be too late p>

I paused, allowing what she said to settle in. I realized I never asked about what happened. All I knew was that a lot of people die and my dad made a decision to banish all witches and wizards from the pack.

“What happened back then?” I asked.

She froze, “what?” Her eyes widening.

I stood up, stalking towards her, my eyes not leaving her. “I just realized no one ever mentioned what really happened. I don’t remember any war or an attack with witches p>

“Do you think that’s what is important right now?” She snapped, her loud voice returning, but I wasn’t fazed. Not one but.

“The elders are waiting for you to take one wrong step so that they can strip you of your position, and that’s exactly what a witch in this pack would do p>

Now, she was equally angry, but a wave of uneasiness hit me and my head jerked to Kaia, who was looked deep in thought.

“Bella, are you okay?” I asked her.

Her eyes met mine and she nodded, “I’m okay. Do you think she’s right though? With the witches?” She asked.

“I don’t know, something isn’t adding up the more I think about it.” “Uhmm…you should probably get back to your conversation.” She said and I turned back to my mom, her fist clenched. She was glaring at Kaia who stared innocently at her.

“Innocent my ass, she’s definitely planning her murder.” King said and my head jerks to Kaia once more and she flashed me a smile.

“We’ll talk about that later p>

Coming back to my conversation with my mom, “you want me to believe that you have nothing to do with that plan? You joined forces with them p>

“To get you to see that you were making a mistake,” she snapped, my eyes darkening at that, “not to get you stripped of your position p>

“Clearly you didn’t think it through.” My voice coming out higher and King was struggling to come to the surface.

Picking Kaia was never a mistake and she was never an option to make. It was just her and I never intended on settling for anyone else.

“The only mistake I made, was letting you think that you had any control when it came to who my mate was, or that aspect of my life.” I told her.

“I am your mother and p>

A chuckle escape my lips at how ridiculous she sounded. I love my mom, but the moment she chose not to accept my mate, she picked a side.

“You can’t play that card anymore, you chose a side when you joined that meeting

to decide what my future should be. So stick to it p>

“Uhmm…Alpha.” Ryder’s voice rang in my head.

“Not now, Ryder p>

This needed to end here and now. I was tired of going over the same thing anytime she showed up. It was no secret in the werewolf world that members of high ranked families hated having someone who is low ranked in their family because they didn’t want to produce weak children.

But that had never been me. Because above status and strong children, having whoever the moon goddess made for me was more important…it still was.

Kaia’s rank never for once made me rethink my decision about her. And thinking about it, there was no way she was an Omega.

“Alpha, your I blocked him,

“You’re overestimating the power you have here p>

I shook my head, “you’re wrong, you’re playing down on how much authority I have and that is your first mistake p>

Before I could continue, the door burst open, and the unmistakable smell of the last person I expected to see filled the room.

And compared to my 6’6 height, he was a foot taller and his shoulders broader. He was angry no doubt, but that didn’t do anything to me as I stood my ground.

“How dare you talk to your mom that way?” He growled, his voice thundered, his Lycan already at the surface.

Only one word left my mouth,

“Dad p>
