Chapter 94
Chapter 97
Kieran’s POV (there’s a little mention of violence)
The shooters weren’t healing as fast as I wanted them to, so we had the pack doctor look at them and they were starting to get better. But with the break in our room, Kaia was on the edge so she was back to having a bodyguard.
After her panic attack last night, I knew we had to speed up what we had to do to get to the real person behind the attacks and the shooting.
“Alpha, they’re ready to talk.” Caleb’s voice rang in my head.
I was already on my way to them, so I hastened my pace. King was eager to get to them also. After watching our mate go through pain, it only fueled our determination.
The three men were all kneeling with their hands tied up with ropes that had been dipped in wolfsbane. Their groaning and the sounds of whips against their skin filled the dungeon. I guess they didn’t like the taste of their own medicine.
“Who do you work for?” I asked. The three of them looked at each other and then back at me before shaking their heads.
“He’s g-going to k-kill us if we say anything.” One of them said, spitting out blood.
A smirk formed at the corner of my mouth, “I can do him a favor then.” I said, signaling to Caleb to carry on.
The sound of whipping went up in the air, followed by their cry and plea. Blood gushed out of their backs where the whip touched. Other prisoners slowly retreated into their cell for fear that it would be their turn next if they as much as made the wrong sound.
“Do you still think keeping quiet will keep you alive p>
The one Dylan caught was the first to get back on his knees, he was covered in his blood, his eyes were swollen and his mouth bursted.
“I will rather die than betray my boss.” He spat, a defiant look in his eyes.
King growled, “Let’s grant his wish then.” He said, gnawing at me to let him out.
Ryder and Caleb looked at me, waiting for further instructions. But even alive, they were proving not to be of any use, it wouldn’t be any better if he was dead. That didn’t mean I wouldn’t enjoy breaking him.
“Tie them up.” I ordered, drawing my sleeves up. “This should be fun p>
The other two watched with horror on their faces as the third person was put up, his body upside down. They struggled to move, attempting to run away but Ryder just grabbed them by the clothes.
“Please, forgive us.” One of them, whose voice I recognized as the one who was in doubt about the entire mission, begged, “we’ll leave and p>
But Caleb was done listening as his repeatedly landed hot punches on his face, the reason behind his anger wasn’t far-fetched. Here they were begging to be spared but they didn’t hesitate to shoot poison that nearly took his life.
I let him have his way before getting started on them. Starting from their knees, breaking every bone that could be found there. King let out a satisfied sign as the sound of cracking followed by their scream and plea for mercy. The air was thick with the smell of blood and sweat.
Ryder handed me the wolfsbane…my favorite part of all this, but it was cut short when one of them spoke. His voice was low, but our ability made it easy to grasp every word.
“I’ll…talk, please… don’t The same person said, his voice breaking as he spoke.
“He could’ve waited a few seconds, it was just getting interesting.” King said, and I chuckled before ordering him to be brought down.
With his knee, which wouldn’t be working for a few weeks or months, Caleb and Ryder held him upright so he could meet my gaze, with his only functional eye. “Start talking p>
“I don’t know much he started, but changed his mind when Caleb’s grip tightened on his hand, his claws digging into his skin.
“We call him Boss, nobody knows his real name.” He started again, his voice becoming louder. “We d-don’t know where he stays, and he only shows up when we have a mission.” He said.
I nodded, that wasn’t helpful in the least. “Describe this ‘boss’ of yours p>
He thought about it for a few seconds before going ahead to describe an average warrior in my Pack: He was tall and was muscular. He had brown eyes and his hair was long.
Ryder groaned, this wasn’t going anywhere and the other two had passed out. “Maybe this will jog your memory.” I told him, opening the wolfsbane.
“I r-remember,” he yelled, trying to scoot backward, but the grip on him kept him in place. “I heard some other members talking about it, he’s not an ordinary wolf.” “Explain p>
“He can do things better and faster than any wolf. That’s all I know, I swear.” He begged. “I think he has a scar on his face, but I haven’t seen him up close before to confirm p>
Knowing we wouldn’t get anything else, I had him put back in the cell, while the other two remained hung. I did think they liked it there.
Caleb and Ryder followed beside me as I returned to my office. There was no time to sit around doing nothing.
“He’s a hybrid.” I said, as we neared the office. “That would explain his speed and the poison.” I finished.
Then I turned to face Caleb, “Are you okay?” I asked, and he nodded. “Did you also find any information on the rest of the Lycans and their families p>
“Yes, Alpha. Most of them live in other Packs and haven’t been for years. And none of them have a scar, except if it was just to throw us off. Other than that, nothing Seems
out of place.” He replied.
I fought back the urge to groan, if all the other Lycan families were not responsible
for birthing this hybrid, which other Lycan can be behind it?
“Well, you have Allie, your parents
and you.” King said, and I sent him a
glare. The only way I could have a son like that was if I’d started giving birth while in the womb and since that didn’t happen, it has to be someone else.
My parents also met each other when they turned eighteen, so it wasn’t possibly
them. “There has to be something I was missing p>
“Considering the fact that you just crossed out our last suspects, you definitely are missing something.” King continued.
“We’re going to start with the areas where they met frequently p>
They nodded.
“How’s Dylan doing with the search for Ashley?” I asked, looking at Caleb.
When I mentioned the break-in into the room and was delegating
warriors to organize a search for
Ashley, who was the main suspect, Dylan offered to tag along, hence the reason he wasn’t here.
Even though I wasn’t sure where he stood, I was trying to put the situation that
brought him here behind me for Kaia’s sake.
“I’ll check with him and report back to you p>
“While you’re at it, check for a Jake among the warriors. The shooters mentioned
him, so he might be behind the incident in the armory p>
“Ryder, check on the warrior that was affected, see if he remembers anything p>
“Yes, Alpha.” They chorused before excusing themselves.
Shortly after they left, a knock on the door snapped my attention away from what I was doing. And Dylan entered.
“What’s up p>
“I found something, Alpha p>
