Chapter 78
Chapter 81
Kaia’s POV
While waiting for the full moon to be able to get the ironbloom flower so that a solution can be made, Kieran had also been busy, coming up with strategies on the best way to go about it. Part of which means that only trusted warriors knew about it.
If they were really in the pack, it was best to take them by surprise. But because of this, I’d barely seen Kieran apart from when he comes in to sleep. And it was frustrating to say the least.
“You should stay with Dani today.” I told Nessa, who was insisting on going with me to the pack hospital. “The last thing you want to see is blood and bones p>
“I can handle it.” She assured me.
But I shook my head, “we’ll be back before you know it.” I told her and this time, she listened.
Allie and I made our way to the hospital. They needed more hands, especially with how intense their training was in the past few days.
“The girl likes you, it’s cute.” Allie said, “it shows how much she trusts you p>
“She reminds me of myself when I was her age…I mean I’m not that older than her, but it’s like looking at a mirror p>
There were differences, she had parents who cared about her, but when it came to her dreams and what she wanted, we were not that different. And if not for anything, I wanted her to be okay and happy and I was going to do just that.
Most of the nurses were running around, trying to get things done so we joined them, cleaning up the wounds of those who didn’t have anyone attending to them yet so that their wolves can complete the healing process.
About half an hour later, we were done and ready to leave when someone else was brought in. Allie froze when she saw who it was.
“What happened to you?” I asked the said person, rushing to his side to help him. “I’m injured.” He replied and I just rolled my eyes. “I can see that p>
Allie didn’t move from her spot, her eyes remained locked in on his wound. Worry flashed in her eyes but it was gone almost immediately. It wasn’t anything serious and I’m sure he was only here because Kieran insisted he gets checked…well, now that Allie was here, it could be something else now.
But I could tell he was struggling not to look at her. I have not seen anyone more confused than he was when it came to what they wanted.
“I’ll go back to house.” Allie said, the lightness in her voice gone.
“That’s okay, when I’m done, I’ll meet you there.” She nodded and turned to leave.
Once my attention was back on Ryder, his eyes was staring at Allie’s retreating figure like a lost puppy. I ignored him and began cleaning his injury.
“How did you get this?” I asked him again.
He let out a sigh, “I was distracted during a fight.” He replied.
“You made your choice, Ryder,” I started, and his eyes darted to mine. “so you have to let her move on and be happy.” A plan already forming in my head. And it probably wasn’t going to end well but it wouldn’t hurt to try.
“Move on? What are you talking about?” His voice had an edge to it. Even Lylah snorted at it.
Instead of giving him a response, I just shrugged and stood up, carrying the plate which contained everything I used on him and turned to leave the room. He was quick on his feet.
“You should rest a little while your wolf heals you completely.” I told him, but my warning was thrown to the wind as he followed me, limping after me.
“What do you mean by moving on?” He asked.
“You’re smart Ryder, I’m sure you figured that out already by now.” I said, “so, just let her be happy and you should also be happy and stop being distracted. This is just training, what happens when you’re on the battlefield p>
Before he could come up with a response, I left him standing there. I mean, there has to be a reason he ended things with her, he should stick to it.
“You’re giving him more reason to hate brother.” Lylah said, as we stepped outside of the hospital, leaving the smell of antiseptic and disinfectant behind.
“It’s not like anything I say will change his mind.” I argued.
“That, is true.” She laughed, “let’s find mate, I miss him.” She said after a pause.
I agreed, I’d missed him too, badly. So I mind-linked him to ask where he was and he replied that he was finishing up at the training ground. Knowing he would throw a fit if I even thought of going there, I went to the kitchen to find something to eat while waiting for him.
I ran into Dylan, who was also just returning from training and he looked miserable.
“Did you have fun?” I mocked him, and he glared at me.
Such charming personality! I love our new found relationship.
“Alpha Kieran is so brutal, I totally get why no pack in their right mind goes to war with him.” He complained, massaging his arms while a proud smile covered my face.
“My mistake,” he murmured, “I forget who I’m talking to.” He hissed and made attempt to leave, so I quickly apologized.
“I’ll see you off to your room.” I offered and he glanced at me, his brows furrowed as if trying to guess what I was playing at. But each time he looked at me, I flashed him a smile which only made him more suspicious.
He kept turning back as we went to his room but he didn’t say anything and neither did I until I locked the door behind us.
“What do you think about Allie?” I asked.
“First, I thought we don’t talk about her and did you really follow me here, acting
all suspicious to ask me that p>
I shrugged, “just answer the question p>
“She’s cute and all.” He said, and I waited for him to continue his sentence, but he didn’t and I frowned.
“What is she? A five year old or a pet p>
He narrowed his eyes slightly at me, “what she is, is a walking danger. I look at her in the wrong way and my head would be offered to me on a platter of gold p>
“So you think she’s beautiful?” I asked, just to be clear on what he was saying and wasn’t saying.
“Of course she is. Remind me again, what is the point of this conversation p>
I ignored him as I focused on thinking about Allie just like Lylah taught me when I wanted to mindlink Dylan for the first time. And once that was done, I tried calling out for her. “Allie can you hear me p>
There was no response, so I tried again and her voice came almost immediately. “It is either I am drunk or I can actually hear Kaia in my head.” She said.
“You’re not drunk.” I assured her and she squealed before throwing several questions at me.
“I’m going to answer that later, right now, bring yourself to my brother’s room and come alone.” I didn’t give her a chance to argue…which I knew she was going to, before blocking her out and less than five minutes later, she was knocking on the door.
“Here goes nothing!” I thought, as I threw the door open.
