Chapter 97
Chapter 100
Kaia’s POV
It was still hard to believe that Maria would do something like that and when Kieran questioned her after the said boyfriend…Jake died from the poison, she broke down and admitted that he had been looking for the potion made from the iron bloom flower.
She claimed that he told her that it was the last time he was going to get involved with the group and she believed him, hence the reason she was trying to cover up after him.
Knowing that it wasn’t that, helped keep my mind at ease even though I still had Edward following me around sometimes. He was different from the first one, and he isn’t as stiff either.
“Good thing Alpha got rid of her…I can’t believe she would implicate Ashley for something she didn’t do.” Dani said.
Allie nodded, “I know right! What happened to girls supporting each other p>
“She was probably absent when that was taught.” I joked and the three of us laughed.
Nessa wasn’t around today, she mentioned something about being under the weather but she insisted on not going to the hospital. I made a mental note to visit her later.
“But seriously, that aside.” Dani started, her expression becoming serious. “How are you preparing for the upcoming gathering of the Alphas?” She asked. “I’m not sure you have an outfit suitable for the event p>
“I propose going shopping.” Allie added, throwing her hands up excitedly.
I just shook my head at both of them. I was the only one worried that with
everything going on, having a party wasn’t the best idea.
“Considering how it’s not a party to just greet each other and leave, it’s very much necessary.” Lylah said.
She was right, Kieran wanted to meet with all Alphas and since they had their annual gathering coming up, it was the perfect opportunity. And before now, the girls told me that Kieran would avoid any event that involved bringing a mate.
“I don’t know guys I sighed, watching as their eyes widened and brows raised at what I was going to say. “I think I have enough formal dresses. I said instead.
I cracked a smile at their dramatic attitude as they let out a deep breath.
“It’s never too much,” Allie assured me, but what else was I expecting from someone who could shop for a living. “Besides, this is your first appearance as Luna.” she added.
A groan escaped my lips, “don’t remind me.” I said and it was their turn to laugh. “One of you better come along with me, because if I have to pretend to like them for more than one hour, it wouldn’t end well p>
“You’ll be fine,” they assured me.
We spent the rest of the day talking about what the perfect dress would be and going didn’t completely seem like a bad idea anymore.
I said goodbye as I went towards Kieran’s office, wanting to see him before going
to Nessa’s place. Hopefully I still remembered where she stayed.
I pushed the door open gently, causing four pairs of eyes to look at me.
“Hi guys p>
“Luna.” They called and I nodded. Kieran wore a smile as I went towards him.
“Bella,” he called softly, opening his arms and I didn’t hesitate to go to him. “You look tired, are you sure you don’t want to take a break?” He asked, his hand holding my chin up as he took a good look at me.
I shook my head, “I’m okay p>
But Lylah disagreed, “I’m not, let’s call it a day.” She said but I just rolled my eyes at her.
“Nessa wasn’t around yesterday and today too, so I was going to check up on her. I’ll rest when I come back.” I told him.
He nodded, “be careful.” He warned, “we’re almost done here too. We can have dinner when you’re back.” Nodding softly, I placed a small kiss on his lips before standing up from his lap.
Saying goodbye to them so they could continue with their work, I tried finding my way which was proving to be more difficult than I originally thought, since I never really visited her and she only described where she stayed.
I probably circled the place a few times but there was no luck. Even Lylah couldn’t
help and I almost gave up until I recognized her friend from the hospital.
He was a regular visitor at the hospital, especially since he was training to become a warrior. With his help, I got to her house in no time, and it was the opposite of where I thought it was.
The house wasn’t big, but it wasn’t small either. Fresh flowers were planted in front of the house, making it stand out from those beside them and it was beautiful.
“Luna!” A petite woman, whom I assumed was her mom called when she opened the door. She didn’t hide the confusion as to why I was standing in front of her house, but she still greeted me warmly. Please, come in.” She said, opening the door and the smell of freshly baked cookies hit my nose.
Inside was warm and was decorated with pictures of their family and it was sweet…I might do the same thing with Kieran when we start building a home.
A home? We haven’t really spoken about kids or anything related. But I definitely wanted mini Kieran playing around.
Pushing away the thought for now, I focused on the woman who was trying to make herself comfortable.
“I’m sorry for coming unannounced, but I was worried about Nessa, so I thought I should check on her p>
And instead of clearing the confusion about my presence, it deepened. “I’m sorry, Luna, but what are you talking about?” She asked.
It was my turn to be confused, but nonetheless, I made her understand that Nessa wasn’t at the child care yesterday and today too which was very much unlike her. And I got a message that she wasn’t feeling well and needed to rest.
“Zara Nessa isn’t home right now, she left for child care this morning p>
My eyes widened at the information, where was she if she left home but isn’t at the child care?
“Zara?” I asked, the slip off sinking in and her eyes widened, she probably didn’t mean for me to hear that. “Zara is a nice name.” I quickly added.
She let out a sigh, “she doesn’t like the name anymore.” She started, “We
changed it after we adopted her p>
en she said that, I never
I paused when she
knew she was adopted and whenever she spoke about her parents, there was nothing that indicated that the people she was referring to were her adopted parents. They were the type of people who should be allowed to actually adopt children…not ones
who would end up maltreating the child.
And it made sense why there were no pictures of her under the age of about five
or six years old.
“She grew up with a lot of love.” I told her, and a pleased smile appeared on her
face. “Can I ask what happened to her parents p>
“They were banished when she was five, that’s when we took her in p>
Turning down her offer to take
cookies along with me, I thanked her for taking her time to talk to me despite my unannounced visit. ↓ went back to the pack house, but the thought kept bothering me. “What
crime did her parents commit to
warrant banishment p>
I was so preoccupied with my thoughts that I didn’t notice the man standing in
front of me.
“Kaia p>
“Good evening, Alpha Tyler.” I greeted and began to mindlink Kieran but his voice
stopped me.
“Let’s just talk.” He said.
And against my better judgement, I nodded, walking behind him.
