Chapter 98
Chapter 101
Kaia’s POV
The walk to wherever Alpha Tyler was taking me to didn’t take long and I recognized the pathway from the last time I ran after Kieran and speaking of him, I should probably tell him what I was doing.
But a part of me was actually relaxed…it might be wrong, but I knew that nothing they said would get me to leave Kieran again. Not this time.
“I really love you Lylah started, and I could sense a but coming. “but you can
be dumb sometimes.” My jaw dropped, I didn’t even have time to respond to her insult before she continued.
“You’re willingly walking into the den of the enemies, that’s not exactly called taking caution. How do you think our mate is going to feel when he finds out you’re here without your bodyguard p>
I couldn’t contain my shock seeing how she’d never spoken to me in this manner before. And I knew better than to ignore it.
“I’m sorry, Lylah.” I apologized, promising to tell him. And she just nodded but didn’t say anything. For now, I just mind-linked Kieran without any questions and his response was an immediate ‘I’m coming p>
Alpha Tyler opened the door, and my eyes landed on Luna Clarissa who stood up once she saw me. I stopped in tracks, the memory of our last conversation flooding my mind and I could tell she was thinking about it too.
“I know you’re wondering why I brought you here.” He started.
“Well,” I thought. “It could be to actually talk or to kill me so that Kieran can finally mate Laura.” I finished and Lylah just snorted.
He offered me a seat and also took one as he cleared his throat. “We haven’t been fair to you.” He started, and my brows mirrored the shock I was feeling. My eyes darted towards his mate, whose eyes found something interesting to look at on the floor.
“You’re our son’s mate, and we know you mean the world to him but we went out of our way to tear both of you apart…for selfish gain.” He continued, his voice trembling a bit.
A wave of relief washed over me, but at the same time, this was the first time I was talking to him and if anyone should be apologizing, it wasn’t him. Although the fact that she wasn’t glaring at me was a sign that she agreed with what he was saying.
“My mate is also remorseful Lylah snickered loudly at this. “She thought about it all night a few days ago when she couldn’t sleep p>
“It’ll be more meaningful if I hear it from her.” I heard myself say before I could stop the words from coming out.
Their heads jerked upward to look at me, not hiding the fact that that was the last thing they were expecting me to say…glad I was able to surprise them.
“More like shock.” Lylah chimed in.
Alpha Tyler was the first to get out of the state and his head darted to his mate, staring at her without saying anything, no doubt they were mind-linking each other. As I waited for the outcome of their mindlink, I realized that I had an upper hand with them and it put me at ease and if it was something else…I wasn’t sure. “Kaia She started, the door opening put an end to what she was going to say.
Kieran was seething, his fist clenched, but as soon as his eyes landed on me, they softened.
“Let’s go, Bella.” He commanded softly, not paying attention to his parents.
My eyes went to them, before turning to him and putting my hand in his stretched one. But Alpha Tyler stood up before we could take a step, his hand grabbing Kieran by his shoulder.
“We just want to make things right p>
Kieran turned to look at me and I nodded. His eyes met that of his mom, who unlike her usual self has nothing to say. Seeing that there was no harm there, he let them apologize, especially his mom, who went around the bush before she could actually say the word ‘sorry’ out.
Once that was done, Kieran led me outside and back to the Pack house.
“Bella…I’m sorry about them p>
I shook my head, “it’s okay. I don’t really think an apology is going to change
anything anytime soon, but I’m happy they did p>
“Yea…I wouldn’t trust it either.” He joked and we both laughed.
Since we’ve both had a long day, we ate dinner and went straight to bed, arms
wrapped around each other…the best kind of sleep.
The next morning, I had gotten to
the child care before my visit to Nessa’s place came rushing back. The conversation with Kieran’s. parents totally pushed it off my mind. I’m sure the girls would love to
hear it, but I needed to see Nessa
first.
I didn’t need to go too far when I found her sitting at one corner in the room, her arms wrapped around herself and I rushed to her.
“What happened, Nessa?” I asked, and she raised her head once she heard my voice. Her eyes were swollen like she’d been crying.
“Luna!” She cried, leaning into me as fresh tears began pouring down from her eyes.
She cried for a few minutes and I tried my best to comfort her. When she finally stopped crying, I asked her what happened again and this time she answered.
“I thought he loved me too she started and my brows furrowed at where this was going. “he liked someone else and I was just a dare p>
Then she went ahead to explain her relationship with the boy, how he deceived her into thinking he loved her too but it was a lie. He told her no one would want to have anything to do with a wolf-less girl.
Of course she wouldn’t have a wolf yet…she still has some months to go.
“Is that why you weren’t around?” I asked.
She nodded, “I’m sorry, Luna. I didn’t mean to make you worry about me p>
“It’s okay.” I assured her, wiping the tears in her eyes. “You should’ve just come to
me instead.” She apologized again, but the deed had been done.
We remained quiet for a while, I turned to check if the girls were around and they were, their eyes glued to us…no doubt paying attention to what we were talking
about and I’m sure they well net
restraining themselves from coming over here and demanding what the boy’s name was so they could teach him a lesson.
Nessa’s voice jerked my attention back to her. “My mom said you came around.” She said and I nodded. I didn’t want to bring it up yet.
“I did p>
“She told you about my biological parents, didn’t she?” She asked.
“I think Zara is a beautiful name.” There was no use denying that she did. “Why
don’t you like it p>
“My parents did something really
bad, that’s all know. My name reminds me of them and I’d rather not remember them since they didn’t care about me to stop doing it, o-or event-take me a-along.” Her voice broke as she spoke.
“They probably thought it was the best thing to do…did you think of asking the
Alpha? I’m sure he has a record p>
Her eyes widened, as she shook her head repeatedly. “I want to put that part of my life behind me. I’m happy now p>
Nodding my head in agreement, there was no use digging up old wounds. She was very much happy.
“How about we do something fun and forget about stupid boys?” I asked and watched her smile become bigger.
But for some reason, I couldn’t push away the uneasiness I was feeling.
