Chapter 107

Kieran’s POV

I walked into my office with a smile because at the moment, I doubt anything can make me unhappy. Kaia carrying our pup was the best news and more than anything I could ask for.

“Alpha,” Caleb called, but paused when he saw the look on my face. “I’m not sure I can tell if I really interrupted you or not.” He said, considering the fact that I snapped at him earlier when he mindlinked me.

Ryder, who was lying down on the couch snorted, “you should be happy he’s in a good mood. My poor ass can’t handle him if he’s not p>

I rolled my eyes, before going to my desk ready to get back to work. “What did you get?” I asked him.

Ryder stood up and came towards us, pulling a chair for himself as Caleb spread out the papers in front of him. “According to the description Nessa gave, those men sound different from what we’re looking at he started.

“And a question I can’t push out of my head, is if she’s a target too.” Ryder added.

He had a point, it was either that or there was something we were getting wrong. And considering the fact that we went after them almost immediately but couldn’t find a trace and apart from her, no one else saw them…especially since she was inside the pack where members were always passing.

The door swung open, revealing Dylan who was getting ready to leave. He greeted me and did the same with both Caleb and Ryder…I didn’t bother asking what or how that happened when they weren’t at each other’s throats.

“They definitely bonded over their ability to look like they their life is hanging on a piece of thread.” King mocked and I chuckled, “they really do p>

We filled Dylan in on what we were talking about, and he nodded thoughtfully. “Something doesn’t make sense though…I don’t think the men, if they really were from the AXE, would risk getting caught.” Dylan said.

I nodded, “especially since they just had to silent some of their members p>

“Exactly p>

“Get Nessa here.” I ordered and Ryder stood up, leaving the room.

He returned a few minutes with a trembling Nessa, her hands shaking on their own. She must’ve been so scared…she really was on the verge of death.

“You wanted to see me, Alpha.” She said, her head facing the floor and her voice barely audible.

Sitting upright, I nodded. “I know what you went through was painful, but I want you to tell me what you remember about that day again.” I said. “Especially the men you saw. Can you do that p>

She nodded hesitantly, and then went ahead to recount the story we’ve heard before, giving the description of the men we couldn’t find anything on.

“Please, make them pay for it, Alpha.” She finished, wiping the tears streaming down her face with the back of her hand.

“We will,” I assured her, before ordering Ryder to see her off to the child care.

Caleb looked at me, his brows raised as my fingers drummed against the table. “What are you thinking?” He asked.

“Tell me about the men who shot you.” I said, and his eyes narrowed in confusion. “What? I mean, why p>

“Because no one recounts an event the same way twice…except it’s rehearsed.” Dylan said and I watched as his eyes widened and he dragged the paper to himself, skimming through the description she gave about the men.

“You’re right.” He said, “I can barely remember the men who shot me. I didn’t even see their faces p>

Even though it was night, he was a Beta and I was also there. But they were careful to not reveal their faces but in her description, she described him up even to the mole on his face.

“She’s hiding something.” I pointed out, as if it wasn’t already obvious.

What I didn’t understand was why. If you were shot, you would definitely want the culprit to be caught and in this case, one thing we knew about the men was their speed and lack of smell, but she gave us even that.

“Get me everything you can on her.” I ordered.

“Yes Alpha p>

Once they all left, my mind went back to Kaia. She had insisted on resuming back at the child care despite my plea for her to rest. And while was happy that she was strong enough to take care of herself, the doctor’s words were stuck in my head about it being difficult.

I couldn’t ask my mom, she was a Lycan so it must’ve been an easy birth for her.

I’m not sure I would say the same thing if she had mated a normal wolf and was going to give birth to a hybrid like Kaia.

“Bella,” I called through our mindlink, “are you okay? It’s not too late to change your mind p>

Her response was immediate, “I’m not changing my mind anytime soon.” She said and I groaned loudly into the mindlink and she chuckled.

“What did you say to Nessa, she wouldn’t stop crying? I had to send her back home?” She asked.

“Nothing to worry about,” I told her but she snorted and said she would talk to me later as she needed to get things done.

I got back to work, but was distracted again, this time by King. “We have to think about having the Luna ceremony officially.” He said. “Our pup is going to be born soon, I think she is more than ready He added.

For the ceremony, we’d kept pushing it until the Elders and shooter

situation started and having a ceremony in the midst of it wasn’t the way to go. But now was the perfect time before our pup was born. Although Pack members knew her, it was only right to do it.

So I mind linked Caleb and Ryder, who came back wondering what the problem

was seeing how they just left here.

“Alpha p>

“I need you to start preparing for the Luna ceremony p>

“Yes, Alpha. But what about the meeting with the Alphas?” Caleb asked.

“The ceremony can come after.” I replied. “Kaia is going to have our pup and I don’t Their heads snapped to each other and then back to me, a wide smile appearing on their faces.

“Congratulations, Alpha.” They chorused, “this has to be the best news ever.” Caleb said.

“I think Ryder Junior has a nice to it. What do you think Alpha?” Ryder asked, wiggling his brows at me.

A soft growl escaped my lips, “get out of my office.” I told him playfully, but he just laughed and made himself comfortable on the chair.

“Are you going to announce it to the Pack? I mean, we still don’t know who to trust.” Caleb said after a while. I nodded. It was only a matter before her smell changes and everyone would know, so why wait?

He agreed, as he excused himself to continue digging up the information.

The event with the Alphas was only about two weeks away, which means we had

just about the same time to prepare for the ceremony.

I pushed myself up from the chair to go meet Kaia. I could already see the panicked look on her face when I told her that what she was running away from was finally happening and even sooner than she thought.

“Mate!” King called as I opened the door and Kaia was standing there with a worried look on her face, sending a wave of panic through me.

“Bella,” I called softly, “What’s wrong p>

“I think we might have a problem p>
