Chapter 110
Chapter 113
Ryder’s POV
It’s been a few days after my conversation with Allie and it felt like she was avoiding me. She wouldn’t look at me for more than what was necessary. It was as if we took several steps backward after the conversation we had and I kept wondering if it was something I said. But Kaia thinks otherwise.
I had run to her to confirm if I had said something wrong…after she laughed her heart content, she assured me that she needed time to process things and being around me wasn’t the best way to go about it.
With the Alphas’ meeting being about two days away and Kieran didn’t have any issues about me going in Caleb’s place but if Allie couldn’t bear to stay in the same room as me, I might as well stay back.
“What are you thinking so hard about?” Caleb asked.
We were sitting in Kieran’s office, waiting for him to finish from the meeting he was
in so we could conclude on everything that concerned the upcoming Alphas’
meeting.
“Nothing…just stuff p>
He raised his brows at me, “I mean, if you want to lie, try to make it more believable p>
“It’s just I paused. He already knew about my problem… part of it, but we never talked about things that weren’t related to Pack duty and responsibility, so this was all new.
“How did you find out about Allie and I?” I asked instead. “Did Dani tell you p>
He shook his head, “and I can’t believe you have my mate hiding things from me.” He said, his voice was light, the fact that he was joking was evident in his voice.
“Anyone can see the way you look at her he started, “I mean, you guys hid it so well until Dylan came. We all found it hard to trust him even after knowing he was innocent…but you hated him p>
“You can’t blame me.” I murmured. “So you knew about the two of them too?” “Only until later p>
I sighed deeply, if Caleb knew about the whole drama, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kieran knew about it too and at the moment, I cared more that Allie talks to me than what Kieran was going to do.
“She’ll come around.” He assured me. It was the same thing Kaia and Dani were saying but I knew better than to give myself hope and then have it taken away.
When I realized I couldn’t concentrate properly, I told Caleb I needed to walk around and he nodded so I left. A huge part of me wanted to say ‘fuck it’ and go in search of her but the promise I made to wait for as long as she was ready rang in my head.
“I miss her.” Kaid said, his voice low, heavy with longing. I wished I could go back in time and correct all the wrong I made, then it would be a different story now.
Ignoring that part of me that was urging me to go see her, I went straight to my place. But the sight I was met with, had me wishing I had remained in the office.
“What are you doing here?” I growled, my eyes shooting daggers at the figure sitting on my front door.
Ever since I rejected her, this was the first time I was seeing her and as expected, there was no spark whatsoever. Instead, I felt annoyed at her presence but she couldn’t care less about my anger.
“I wanted to see you.” She replied. “My wolf wouldn’t talk to me and I realized I made a mistake, so here I am.” She announced, and a smile I once thought was beautiful appeared on her face.
“Get her out of here!” Kaid growled, coming to the surface.
“I don’t care why you are here, I don’t want to see you.” I told her.
My eyes darted around to make sure we were alone. Even though Kieran had asked her not to ever come back to the pack, she was using her relationship with Luna Clarissa to get in but she knew better than to let Kieran know she was around.
“I’m giving us a chance,” she started, but I’ve heard enough.
“Good for you, but I don’t give a fuck what you do.” I told her. “What I do know is that if you don’t leave now, goddess help me, you’d hate me by the time I’m done p>
She scoffed, “did you hear me?” She asked, “I’m saying I want to try working things out with you.” She repeated.
She was the weapon fashioned against me. What she wanted was none of my business as I was more concerned about her being seen by anyone…Allie especially.
“Leave p>
“Are you fucking kidding me?” She yelled, not fazing me one bit. “Do you know what it took for me to come here and say that? You’re not getting rid of me easily, I’m your mate p>
My eyes darkened, “You are not my mate,” my voice rising to match her own. “I say I’m not going to put my hands on a woman, but you’re pushing me right now p>
She moved back, her eyes softening, “Let’s just go inside and talk about it p>
If delusional was a person, then it was her. I grabbed her, dragging her away from my house and back into the Pack house.
“What are you doing?” She asked, a bit of panic in her voice when she realized what was happening.
“What I should have done a long time ago, instead of having mindless conversation with you p>
I know that doing that would reveal the secret was hiding. Even though Allie and Kaia knew I found my mate, they didn’t know who it was and the fact that she was hell bent on е snatching Kieran away from Kaia was enough reason to hide her identity. I felt like being with her would be a betrayal to her.
“I’d leave, okay. Just stop.” She ordered and I did. “I’ll leave now, but you’re not getting rid of me easily.” She said and I watched as she walked away, stomping her feet as she left.
“Good riddance!” Kaid murmured and I couldn’t agree less.
I changed my mind about resting at home and went straight back to the Pack house which turned out to be another mistake and not because I didn’t want to see her, but the fact that probably still have Laura’s smell hit me.
Allie stood in front of me, her eyes narrowing at me and I could only pray for the
moon goddess to somehow make sure she doesn’t notice it.
“Caleb said you left.” She said, her eyes not leaving mine.
“Uhmm…yes, t-took a walk.” I replied, my voice trembling.
Kaid let out a groan, “are you really bent on ruining this for us p>
“Forgive me for being nervous, okay!” I snapped. If she was ready to talk, it meant she’d come to a conclusion about what she wanted and didn’t want anything…nothing at all just in case it was in my favour.
“Where were you?” She asked instead, catching me by surprise.
“I went back to my place…wanting to sleep, but I changed my mind p>
She was quiet for a few minutes, and I could hear how fast my heart was going. The look she has on her face didn’t spell great news…second chance to me.
“I’m going to ask you one question,” she started. “And if you lie, you can forget about getting into my good graces.” She asked and I nodded.
“Who’s she p>
“What?” I asked.
“Your mate. Is she a member of this Pack? Would I have to worry about her p>
I shook my head, “you won’t have to. She’s a thing of the past p>
“You have a faint smell on you, does that mean there’s someone else p>
I figured there was no point hiding it, one way or the other, it was going to come
out. “There’s no one else, Laura was here but I sent er back p>
“Laura p>
I took a deep breath, “she was my mate.” I confessed and waited for her reaction.
