Elianna had never been fond of being contradicted, but if Yelena kept her head down and played her part, Elianna wouldn’t make things any harder than necessary.
“Good. Go freshen up and have some breakfast,” Elianna instructed briskly.
“Alright,” Yelena replied, her tone neutral.
But before she could move, a servant rushed in, her steps hurried.
“Mrs. Harris, there are some people outside, bringing many gifts to thank Miss Yelena p>
Elianna paused, taken aback. “Thank Yelena?” She raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued.
“Who are they?” Elianna added, her voice tinged with confusion.
“They only said they were from the Bowen family. They’re waiting in the living room now,” the servant responded respectfully.
“The Bowen family? What an unexpected surprise! I’ll go see them. Yelena, come with me,” Elianna stated, surprised.
These people specifically asked for Yelena!
Elianna couldn’t help but feel a little puzzled by the whole situation, but she quickly dismissed her doubts. If the Harris family could strengthen their ties with the Bowen family, it would be a significant boost.
The Bowen family had longstanding, influential ties with the Barton family, the most prominent and powerful family in Kheley.
With that thought, Elianna’s pace quickened.
Yelena, however, was also surprised.
Could it be John?

John turned toward her, his respect evident. “Yes, ma’am. I’m John Bowen, and this is my friend, Austin Barton. Yelena was an immense help to me yesterday, and I wanted to personally thank her today for her kindness.” He spoke with a sincerity that seemed to fill the space.
Elianna’s eyes flickered between the two young men, a moment of realization dawning on her. Could it be? Was this the same Austin Barton, the most influential figure in Kheley? But, ever the composed woman, Elianna quickly masked her surprise with a polite smile.
“Ah, I see. It’s truly an honor for Yelena to have been able to assist you, Mr. Bowen,” she remarked, her voice smooth and unruffled.
“Indeed, her help was invaluable and I’m truly grateful. She must have returned home quite late last night due to that, and I’m deeply sorry,” John added earnestly.
A momentary silence fell over Elianna as she processed his words. So, Yelena had stayed up late helping John after all. It made her feel a touch guilty for her earlier assumptions.
