Austin didn’t move, allowing Maggie to hit him a few times. Maggie wasn’t particularly strong, and she soon wore herself out.

“How can you say that?” Maggie shot back, her anger rising again. “Just because you’re not together doesn’t mean what you did doesn’t hurt her! If you can’t be with her, you never should have led her on!” The more Maggie thought about it, the angrier she became, and she struck Austin once more.
Austin calmly replied, “It seems like you really like Yelena. If that’s the case, you can go ahead and discuss our engagement with her family. I’m quite satisfied with this blind date p>
“How could you still bring up the blind date? You—” Maggie suddenly froze, her eyes widening in realization. “Wait a minute, what did you just say p>
Austin calmly repeated himself, then asked, “Did you hear me now p>
Maggie stared at Austin in shock, her mind struggling to process his words. It felt as though the ground beneath her had disappeared, leaving her in a daze.
“Hold on, let me get this straight. Are you saying that the person you went on the blind date with today was Yelena p>
“Yes,” Austin replied, his gaze innocent as he looked into Maggie’s bewildered eyes.
“How come we didn’t know she was your blind date?” Maggie asked, suspicious that Austin was still lying to her.

“Yelena also didn’t know that I was her blind date. We only realized it when we met at the restaurant. It seems that Grandpa indeed had quite the foresight back then,” Austin explained.
Maggie paused, a thought crossing her mind. “Wait a minute. Didn’t your grandpa say that family came from a rural background? But the Harris family—” she asked, suddenly remembering the details.
“They indeed lived in the countryside at first, but they’ve moved and been doing business in downtown Eighfast for decades, just like we have back in Kheley,” Austin replied.
Maggie pondered the situation and concluded that it seemed logical. Over the past few decades, many people from across the country had migrated from the countryside to urban centers seeking better prospects.
“Are you certain you’re telling the truth?” she asked.
“Absolutely. If in doubt, check with John,” Austin replied.
Aware of the close bond between Austin and John, Maggie suspected that John might not be entirely truthful either.
“It might be better to ask Yelena instead,” Maggie suggested. Still, she hesitated, worried that confronting Yelena based on Austin’s possibly false information could upset her.
Meanwhile, Yelena had sprinted all the way home, arriving with rosy cheeks and slightly breathless.
Cayson’s gaze intensified. “What happened? Was someone after you?” He looked behind Yelena, but the path was empty.
