Lily let out a cold, humorless laugh. “Good. I hope whatever happened to Tessa is worse than just her going missing. I hope she’s dead p>
Yelena, seething with rage, forced herself to remain composed. She wouldn’t let Lily’s deliberate taunting get under her skin.
Lily studied Yelena, noting how she remained unnervingly composed, clearly unwilling to be provoked.
Lily’s brow furrowed as she silently cursed under her breath. She was frustrated that Yelena wasn’t taking the bait.
At that moment, sirens echoed, and the police arrived, responding to the report.

Suddenly, a car charged into the scene. The driver seemed to have lost control, as the car sped up instead of slowing down, narrowly missing a large tree before screeching to a stop.
A figure then staggered out of the car and slowly made his way toward the house, unsteady on his feet.

When Lily caught sight of Lowe, her face visibly changed.
He had picked the worst possible time to arrive!
Lowe noticed the police officers at his doorstep, and a brief look of panic crossed his face. Without hesitation, he turned and sprinted back towards his car.

The officers quickly surrounded Lowe and restrained him with ease. A strong smell of alcohol emanated from Lowe, strong enough to turn one’s stomach.
Lowe’s attempt to flee at the first sight of police made everything clear. No one would believe his innocence now.
