Sonya shrugged, uncertainty in her tone. “Not much. Maybe he saw all the news online too.” She wasn’t sure what was going on, but lately, Roger had been distant, his attitude cold and indifferent. She couldn’t quite figure out what was going through his mind.
“Your job now is to hold onto Roger no matter what. We can’t afford to let that slip away. Understand?” Tatiana couldn’t hide her concern. She was genuinely anxious about her daughter’s future and the possibility of securing a good marriage, especially now that everything had become so complicated.
“I know, Mom. How about this—we’ll go shopping, I’ll pick out a couple of nice outfits, and then I’ll invite Roger out. I need to look my best when I see him,” Sonya proposed.
“Alright, get ready, and we’ll go out. But remember, keep a low profile. We don’t need anyone recognizing us,” Tatiana reminded, still gripped by a lingering fear.
