It was like Austin never needed to sleep.
“Yelena, why are you up so early? I heard from Sebastian that you went to bed late last night. Why not sleep more?” Donna asked with concern, giving Yelena a curious look when the girl came downstairs for breakfast.
Yet Yelena appeared perfectly refreshed, her smile bright and her energy intact, as if the late night hadn’t touched her at all.
“Were you up to no good? Why didn’t you go to bed early?” Elianna asked sharply.
She had caught Yelena and Donna talking and paused to eavesdrop on their conversation.
Yelena didn’t even bother to look at Elianna. To her, Elianna’s constant need to be involved was tiresome.
To Yelena, this behavior was exceedingly tedious. If someone relied on such actions to affirm their existence, it suggested they were insecure and anxious about their lack of status, driven by a strong desire for control.
Why should Yelena engage with someone else’s insecurities?

“Grandma, I’ve promised to attend a charity event at the orphanage with Mom today, so I can’t stay with you. But I’ll try to come back this afternoon,” Bella responded thoughtfully. Elianna mused that Bella was truly considerate, in stark contrast to Yelena.
Bella then noticed Yelena’s attire—a white hoodie, jeans, and a cream-colored wool coat—simple, yet distinctive and comfortably casual.
However, Bella found Yelena’s outfit too casual, not quite befitting the Harris family’s stature.
