Apparently, the villa had been sold to a new owner who was currently renovating it. The new owner seemed considerate, as the construction work was scheduled to start later in the morning and end promptly in the afternoon each day to minimize disturbance to the neighbors. Since Yelena had woken up later than usual that day, she caught the workers during their active hours.
Just as Yelena was about to leave, she paused, hearing a shout for help. She hesitated briefly before a worker emerged from the house carrying an injured man. The man was unconscious, his head bloodied, presenting a distressing sight.
