“It’s too much hassle to leave and then come back. It’s easier if you just stay with us,” Callum said.
He then cast a meaningful glance toward Bernice.
Bernice was absorbed in her phone, tapping away and clicking her tongue in apparent impatience.
Why couldn’t they just make a decision to leave or stay?
Katelyn grasped Callum’s intention and looked at Bernice with concern.

Bernice had developed depression a few years back due to her parents’ tumultuous relationship, which had led to several suicide attempts. When Katelyn discovered this, she was devastated and resolved to better care for Bernice.
With her parents separating but no longer arguing, and Callum securing a top-notch therapist, Bernice gradually overcame her depression and ceased self-harming.
