Lena, still holding the fish, didn’t meow but strutted proudly, appearing quite pleased with herself. Before Maggie could react further, Lena dashed away with its prize. Maggie hurriedly grabbed her phone and took off after Lena, leaving Monica behind.
In her wheelchair, Monica clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her palms, and she gritted her teeth. It seemed absurd to be upset with a cat, but Monica found Lena utterly unbearable.
