“Is it possible that the guest he had argued with, even after agreeing to switch rooms, saw a chance later to get back at him?” someone guessed.
“That seems unlikely, as the neighbor was a woman who appeared quite frail. Moreover, she had checked out the previous day,” the hotel manager said.
“Wait a minute,” Cayson suddenly interjected. “Didn’t you say this room was for a family of three? But there are only two victims. Where’s their child p>
Everyone was still in shock after seeing the two bodies. The scene was horrific. Both victims were drenched in blood, their abdomens gruesomely mutilated by multiple stab wounds. The brutality of the crime sent shivers down their spines.
For a moment, they were too stunned to act. The murderer must have been incredibly ruthless.
They searched the room thoroughly and eventually found the boy, stunned and hiding in the corner of a closet.
The boy was so terrified he couldn’t speak. Even when he was brought before his parents’ corpses, he remained silent, tears streaming down his face as he trembled uncontrollably, like a leaf in a storm. The sight was heartbreaking and deeply saddening for everyone present.
“We’ve searched the entire room,” Yelena said, her voice steady despite the chilling scene. “There’s a blood trail leading to the window, which suggests the murderer escaped through there.” Given the crime had occurred on the 16th floor, it was clear the murderer hadn’t simply jumped out the window.
The knife was discovered on another floor, leading them to believe the murderer had climbed into another room before escaping. As expected, bloodstains were found in the adjacent room.
“The murderer discarded the weapon on another floor. It seems he’s probably fled by now. But he must be extremely confident, or he wouldn’t have carelessly left the weapon behind,” Yelena explained to Austin.

“The male victim was a large and strong man,” she continued. “That means the murderer must be either very powerful or highly skilled in combat to have killed him so quietly. So, likely, the murderer was an equally strong man p>
Austin and John nodded in agreement. Yelena’s insights were spot on. They were impressed by how logically she approached the situation.
“The murderer must be close by,” Yelena said, her voice tense. “With all this chaos, he’ll likely make a quick escape p>
Yelena and Austin had searched the entire stairwell but found no one.
Just as Yelena reached the ground floor, she encountered Colden. He was visibly relieved to see her. “Yelena, it’s so great to see you!” he exclaimed. “I need to leave for an event soon. My assistant mentioned that the resort is on lockdown because of a fireworks show later. But why does the whole place need to be locked down for that p>
As Colden spoke, a loud series of bangs erupted nearby as the fireworks began. The display was spectacular and mesmerizing. Almost everyone around them was captivated by the lights and colors in the sky.
Yelena reassured Colden, “Don’t worry. I’ll get someone to assist you. Just go and pack your bags p>
Though Yelena had her doubts about many others, she had complete trust in Colden. He had been with them the entire time, making it impossible for him to be the perpetrator. Moreover, Yelena believed in Colden’s integrity.
