Donna’s brow furrowed as she eyed the stranger behind her daughter. Wasn’t Yelena supposed to return with the Barton family? Why was a stranger accompanying her instead of Austin?
As Yelena and the luggage-toting man approached, she greeted, “Mom.” “Mr. and Mrs. Harris, and everyone, hello,” the stranger offered graciously.
Cayson eyed the newcomer, his expression slightly guarded.
Donna hesitated before asking, “Yelena, who is this p>
Cayson, protective and slightly confrontational, stepped forward, blocking the man’s view as he asked his sister, “Where’s Austin? Isn’t he with you p>
Despite their palpable tension, the man smiled smoothly, his composure unshaken.
Yelena explained, “This is Coulson Reed—an old friend. We happened to be on the same plane p>
Their meeting had seemed serendipitous to Yelena. During boarding, Coulson had recognized Yelena and managed to swap seats to sit next to her.
Though it was mere chance that Yelena and Coulson met on the plane, his presence made the flight much more enjoyable, and time seemed to pass quickly. Yelena had planned to handle her luggage on her own when they landed, but Coulson, having no bags himself, offered his assistance. While Yelena was busy responding to a message from Brody, she agreed to accept Coulson’s help.
Upon hearing this, Donna’s suspicions grew, yet she kept her expression friendly. “So, you’re an old friend of Yelena’s? What a small world! Thanks for helping her with her bags p>
Coulson responded with a smile, “It’s no trouble at all, Mrs. Harris. I’m glad to assist Yelena p>
Cayson’s eyes shifted back and forth between Coulson and Yelena as if he were looking for clues. He then asked Yelena with a hint of caution in his voice, “Why didn’t Austin return with you? Weren’t you supposed to be together p>
Yelena laughed lightly and explained, “He’s occupied with some urgent business at his company, so I returned alone. Then I happened to run into Coulson on the plane, and he was kind enough to help out p>

Bella stood off to the side, her gaze moving rapidly as she observed every detail, as if she were putting together a puzzle. She interjected, “Yelena, you and Coulson seem very close! You even ended up on the same flight back p>
Yelena picked up on what Bella meant and replied with composure, “It’s merely a coincidence p>
Observing the situation, Donna quickly intervened, “Alright, now that Yelena is here, let’s head home! Everyone’s probably exhausted.” As their conversation continued, the group made their way toward the parking lot.
Donna extended a warm invitation. “Coulson, thank you so much for helping Yelena out. Why don’t you join us for dinner tonight p>
Coulson responded with a smile, “That’s not necessary p>
Internally, Donna was determined not to rest until she understood the nature of the relationship between Coulson and Yelena. Observing that Yelena and Coulson seemed to get along well, she worried about the complications of them pairing Yelena with the wrong man. What if she actually preferred Coulson?
After all, Donna wished for Yelena to end up with someone she genuinely loved, as anything less would complicate her future. Seeing an opportunity, Yelena graciously offered to Coulson, “It’s just a meal. You’re welcome to come over if you’re free.” Coulson happily accepted, replying, “Alright, then p>
Feeling somewhat obligated after Yelena’s invitation, Coulson found it hard to decline. With Coulson’s acceptance, the conversation wrapped up without further comment from the others.
