Chapter 74:
Everyone got into Jordy’s car, with Davin driving until they reached a cluster of upscale houses near the heart of town. At first, Amelia believed the elegant house she was seeing belonged to Jordy, but as she stepped inside, the familiar touches instantly reminded her of Hillside Villa’s signature style.
Spotting Amelia’s curious glances, Wyatt approached and asked in a gentle voice, “Do you like it here? If not, I own a few places outside the city, too. We can go there.”
Before Amelia could respond, Jordy, who had followed them inside, spoke up. “You should know, Amelia, I designed all those suburban homes as well. If this place isn’t to your liking, you probably won’t like any of the others.”
Feeling a bit more relaxed surrounded by the familiar décor, Amelia smiled. “I like this place. No wonder it stands out. You really left your mark, Jordy.” Whether she meant it as a genuine compliment or was just being polite, the pride in Jordy’s eyes was impossible to miss. He cast Wyatt a smug look and remarked, “See, Amelia knows good design when she sees it.”
After a pause, he couldn’t resist adding, “If you ever want your own place designed, Amelia, I’m your guy. I’ll give you a discount.”
“A huge discount?” Amelia asked, her eyes sparkling.
“Absolutely, the best deal you’ll get!”
The easy conversation between Amelia and Jordy got under Wyatt’s skin. He couldn’t hide his irritation and said to Jordy, “Shouldn’t you be at work? Why do you have so much free time?”
Jordy took Wyatt’s jab in stride, not the least bit offended. He changed the subject and suggested Wyatt take Amelia to Moonlit Restaurant for dinner with him and Holley. Wyatt had a good relationship with Holley, and knowing she wanted to treat them, he agreed.
