Chapter 535
Chapter 535:
The voice pulled every head in the living room toward the door.
As Jasper Carrillo stepped into the room, Ryder moved forward with a respectful nod. Jasper, however, ignored him. His piercing gaze locked onto Sean, intense and unwavering.
He and Sean’s father, Wayne Carrillo, had been brothers. Wayne had a son named Nigel Carrillo. Tragedy had struck when Wayne and Nigel perished on the battlefield, leaving a void in the Carrillo family.
The commanders in those fateful wars had hailed from the Griffiths family, a name that stoked a burning resentment in Jasper and Sean. To Sean, the Griffiths family owed their family a debt of two lives.

Sean’s voice was steady as he responded to Jasper’s demand, “If I break off my engagement to Brielle now, the Carrillo name will be the talk of Kretol—for all the wrong reasons p>
Jasper’s eyes flashed with disdain. “If you don’t end this engagement, our family will be the punchline of every joke p>
From the moment he entered, Jasper hadn’t spared Brielle a single glance, as though she were invisible.

Moments later, Huntley strode into the living room, his presence commanding. The light in Brielle’s eyes faded as quickly as it had ignited when she saw him. Before the Carrillo family, Huntley regarded Brielle with icy contempt. “You’ve dragged the Figueroa name through the mud!” he said, his words cutting like a winter wind.
Brielle’s heart plummeted.
She had always known her brother cared little for her, but the sting of his words still hurt. “I was framed by Amelia!” she retorted, her voice trembling with frustration. “You’re my brother—shouldn’t you stand up for me instead of scolding me p>
Huntley’s gaze was sharp. “Getting yourself ensnared only proves you’re weak. If I could, I would erase the fact that you’re my sister p>
Turning to Jasper and Sean, Huntley shifted his tone to one of calculated diplomacy. “My father has spoken. The marriage alliance is set in stone and that won’t change. As long as our families’ partnership remains intact, everything else is up for discussion p>
