Wyatt called Amelia several times, and each attempt was met with the same cold, mechanical voice of the automated system.

Barrie, lingering nearby, couldn’t hold back his curiosity. “Mr. Stewart, did you and Mrs. Stewart have a fight?” he asked carefully.

“You could say that,” Wyatt replied, his voice heavy with regret.

“But you two have always had such a good relationship. What could have possibly come between you?” Barrie pressed, his worry genuine.

Other people might not have understood how deeply Wyatt and Amelia loved each other, but Barrie, who followed them every day, had seen it up close.

“Enough,” Wyatt snapped, his eyes flashing with a dangerous chill.

Even the thought of such a scene sent fury tearing through him. The idea alone sparked a violent urge to tear apart anyone who dared get that close to her.

Denny had only confessed his feelings for Amelia, and even that had been nearly unbearable for Wyatt. The idea of them getting any closer was simply intolerable.

Barrie’s words left Wyatt shaken, his certainty slipping.
