Chapter 424
Chapter 424:
Considering the identities of the Chadwick brothers, Wyatt lingered in thought for a brief moment before resolving to speak truthfully.
When Shepard and Weldon discovered Amelia was expecting triplets and that her health was in poor condition, both men instinctively furrowed their brows.
In the quiet, Weldon abruptly shifted his gaze toward Wyatt and declared, “I’ll head to Ekuoledo with you p>
Before Wyatt could utter a reply, Weldon continued, “I spent three months in Ekuoledo before, so I’m well acquainted with the area. With me leading the way, you’ll save a great deal of time. Besides, outsiders aren’t permitted anywhere near Elixirspine, but I’m fluent in the local tongue p>
Upon hearing this, Wyatt refrained from answering right away. Instead, his attention turned to Shepard; he was silently seeking his judgment.
Shepard paused for two seconds, then ultimately gave his consent for Weldon to accompany them.
When Shepard’s nod came, a faint flicker passed through Wyatt’s eyes. In a quiet tone, he said, “I’ll do everything possible to keep him safe p>
With time pressing, Wyatt promptly instructed Barrie to assemble a security team.
Marc was also to join them — Elixirspine carried grave risks, and having a physician was important for everyone’s safety.
Amelia deeply wished to travel with Wyatt, but she understood this journey was unlike any they had taken before. She couldn’t risk her well-being. Suppressing her reluctance, she murmured gently, “You must take care p>

“Barrie’s bringing people with extensive deep-mountain expedition expertise. We’ll be fine,” Wyatt said.
Seeing the worry lingering in her gaze, he reached out to softly ruffle her hair. “Trust me. I’ll find that thousand-year wildroot panax and return with it p>
Those words stirred a knot of emotion in Amelia’s chest.
If she were willing to reduce the number of fetuses, Wyatt would never need to take such a gamble.
Sensing her unspoken thoughts, Wyatt tightened his hold on her hand. “Don’t overthink this. The children you are carrying are mine as well. This is what I should do as a father p>
Half an hour later, a helicopter rose from the rooftop of Hillside Villa.
Amelia only lowered her gaze when the aircraft vanished into the clouds.
“It’s just rained, so don’t stay out here. Go back inside p>
Before departing, Wyatt had summoned Carlee to Hillside Villa.
Once she learned Amelia was carrying triplets, Carlee treated her as though she were made of porcelain.
“How are things between you and Sanford?” Amelia asked.
“We might be getting married soon,” Carlee replied.
Amelia nearly choked at Carlee’s words.
Taking the water Carlee offered, she shot her a mild glare. “Can’t you be serious for once p>
“I’m serious.” Meeting Amelia’s skeptical expression, Carlee said, “Sanford has already met my father p>
That made Amelia’s demeanor shift at once. “What did your father say p>
“With the Chapman family’s influence and standing, what could he possibly say? He was so overjoyed that he nearly fainted p>
Catching the playful glint in Carlee’s eyes, Amelia gave her leg a light pat. “He’s pleased because he believes Sanford is dependable. Otherwise, regardless of the Chapman family’s power, he wouldn’t have agreed to you being with Sanford p>
“But if Sanford and I do wed, there’s a major matter we’ll have to settle,” Carlee admitted.
A flicker of curiosity lit Amelia’s features. “What is it p>
“My father wants at least one of our future children to carry the Larson surname p>
“Well…” Amelia hesitated.
Carlee’s expression took on a troubled cast.
Amelia found herself momentarily at a loss for words.
Her friend’s father was a conservative man, and with Carlee being his only child, his wish was far from unexpected.
If Carlee’s boyfriend were an ordinary man, such a request might be simple to honor. But with the Chapman family being one of Kretol’s four leading families, it was unlikely they would permit a grandchild to bear the Larson name.
“Amelia, you know my father’s temperament. If he actually brings this up with the Chapmans, what am I supposed to do?” Carlee said.
Seeing the worry in Carlee’s eyes, Amelia considered for a moment before replying softly, “I think the solution rests with you and Sanford. If you both can reach common ground, it’s not impossible that your father can get what he wants p>
“But if Sanford refuses to let a child take my surname? Can I still stay with him p>
“That depends on what you truly want. But I’d advise talking about it with him before marriage, so you don’t argue over it afterward p>
“Mrs. Stewart, Ms. Finch has arrived,” a maid announced at that moment.
Before Amelia could answer, Carlee interjected, “Has she come to give you trouble while Wyatt’s away p>
“She’s not that kind of person,” Amelia replied.
Carlee had been about to say that everyone in Kretol knew of Kelsey’s feelings for Wyatt, but then, she spotted Kelsey at the living room doorway, and the words died in her throat.
