Chapter 420
Chapter 420:
As Amelia and Wyatt alighted from their vehicle, they spotted Kurt waiting by the entrance, his expression heavy with concern.
From Kurt, Amelia gleaned that Ricky had been staging a hunger strike for days, a desperate act of defiance, though the guards had countered by force-feeding him food.
That morning, however, Ricky unexpectedly began to eat of his own accord. The bodyguards, assuming Ricky had finally surrendered to his circumstances, left him unattended.
However, seizing the moment of their absence, Ricky shattered the plate and, with its jagged fragment, slashed his wrist. When the guards finally noticed something amiss and rushed to his side, he was already teetering on the edge of life.

Had they arrived just two minutes later, Ricky might not have made it.
“I never pegged you as someone with the nerve to kill yourself,” Amelia remarked, her voice laced with a chilling trace of amusement.
At Hillside Villa, there was a well-equipped medical room, and Ricky, now stabilized, lay there, out of immediate danger.
At the sound of Amelia’s voice, Ricky’s bloodshot eyes snapped open, blazing with venomous resentment as he glared at her.
For days, Ricky had felt abandoned by the world. Trapped in that basement, where day bled into night without distinction, he had been engulfed by silence. Although guards were stationed just outside his door, not one of them ever spoke a word to him.
In such a stifling and silent environment, Ricky felt as though his sanity was slowly slipping away, each day dragging him closer to the edge of madness.
At first, he had tried to resist by refusing food, hoping his hunger strike would make a statement. But the guards remained unmoved, force-feeding him with cold efficiency. His act of defiance proved futile.
He had taken a long time to summon the courage to shatter that plate. Ending his life had never truly been his intention; all he wanted was a way out of that miserable place.
And it was all because of Amelia.
The thought that Amelia’s actions had nearly cost him his life fueled a murderous rage within Ricky.
“What is that look?” Wyatt’s voice cut through the tension, cold as frost, as he guided Amelia to a plush sofa.
Ricky’s hatred flared at Wyatt’s words, but fear tempered his defiance, and he stopped glaring at Amelia.
In the oppressive silence that followed, Ricky’s demeanor softened, his voice taking on a pleading tone. “Amelia, I’ve been a father to you for over two decades. Please, have mercy. I’ve lost everything. Let me go p>
“Sure, I can do that,” Amelia replied coolly, cutting him off. “But there is one condition p>
Ricky’s eyes flickered with a spark of hope at Amelia’s initial agreement, only to dim with suspicion when he heard the last sentence. “What is the condition p>
“I want you to transfer all your assets to me p>
At those words, Ricky, frail and bedridden moments before, bolted upright, his face contorted with indignation. “Why should I do that p>
“Because the Davis Group was my mother’s creation, built from the ground up!” Amelia shot back.
Ricky protested, “Even though your mother founded it, I also poured my heart and soul into the company! I p>
