Chapter 471
Chapter 471:
“This entire situation was nothing more than a trap Sean carefully set for me, just waiting for me to walk into it. My own stupidity in trusting the wrong people is why this happened,” Nora said.
She had only just taken control of the Griffiths family’s business and was still inexperienced.
The person who lured her to Hans under the pretense of negotiating a deal had worked with the Griffiths family before, which made Nora less cautious. She hadn’t done a full background check before rushing to Hans. It wasn’t until someone drugged her in the lounge that she realized the supposed business partner had already been bought by Sean.
The entire deal had been a setup from the start.
Sean’s only miscalculation was that he hadn’t predicted Wyatt would also be in Hans.
Remembering the danger from the night before, Nora shivered with lingering fear. “Wyatt, if you hadn’t been in Hans, Sean’s plan would have worked p>
“How are you planning to handle this?” Wyatt asked.
Nora’s expression, usually calm, had gone cold and resolute. “Since Sean dared to set a trap for me, he’d better be prepared to face my retaliation p>
After spending the night forcing herself to stay awake and clear her head in freezing water, Nora felt sharply focused.
She had already formed a counterattack against Sean — but she knew she couldn’t carry it out alone.

“Wyatt, I need your help p>
“What exactly do you need me to do p>
Nora leaned in and whispered a few words in Wyatt’s ear.
Whatever she said made his expression darken slightly.
Seeing the hesitation in his eyes, Nora added softly, “I know I’m putting you in a difficult position, but I don’t have anyone else I can rely on in Hans. I promise you, once this is over, I’ll explain everything to Amelia myself p>
After leaving the hotel room, Amelia walked slowly, silently hoping Wyatt might run after her.
Even after seeing that scene, her faith in Wyatt did not waver.
She thought that as long as he explained it to her, she would believe him.
But even as she walked out of the hotel, Wyatt never appeared.
Her heart sank.
“Let’s go,” she said to Shepard and Weldon.
At her words, Shepard started the engine.
Seeing Amelia watching the rearview mirror, Shepard deliberately slowed the car.
As they drove farther from the hotel and Wyatt still hadn’t shown up, Amelia’s expression grew more and more downcast.
“Amelia, maybe this is all just a misunderstanding,” Shepard said carefully.
“Shepard, Wyatt was holding that woman. What misunderstanding could there be? Are you forgetting you’re supposed to be on Amelia’s side?” Weldon, sitting in the passenger seat, couldn’t hold back.
Hearing that, Shepard shot him a glare, warning him to keep quiet.
Shepard was also deeply unhappy with Wyatt’s actions today. But remembering how devoted Wyatt had always been to Amelia, he was convinced there had to be something more to it.
Amelia drifted into silence.
Thinking back to that hotel room, her chest ached.
In all the time she’d been with Wyatt, she had never faced something like this.
She didn’t know how to handle it. She felt wronged and bitter — especially because Wyatt hadn’t given her a single explanation. Frustration and heaviness swelled inside her.
Maybe the babies sensed her distress, because suddenly Amelia felt a tightness in her stomach.
Ever since Gabby had her taking wildroot panax to strengthen her body, she hadn’t felt this kind of pain.
“Amelia, are you alright?” Shepard asked, watching her worriedly through the rearview mirror.
Seeing her clutch her belly, he immediately pulled over. He got out of the car, opened the rear door, and handed her a bottle of water, his eyes full of concern.
Amelia took several small sips, trying to steady herself.
She let out a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.
When the discomfort finally eased, she told Shepard, “I’m alright p>
“Shepard, we need to take Amelia to the clinic for an examination,” Weldon said.
Amelia instinctively wanted to refuse, but Shepard firmly insisted that she be checked.
After Amelia disappeared behind the doors of the consultation room, Weldon hesitated before turning to Shepard. “Should we let Wyatt know p>
“No need,” Shepard said.
At first, he’d thought this might all just be a misunderstanding. But on the way to the hospital, he’d watched Amelia check her phone over and over.
Wyatt hadn’t contacted her even once.
Not a single message.
