Up until then, Amelia had been waiting for Wyatt to come here and explain everything to her in person.

She had ignored his calls on purpose, hoping he would show up.

“You’re not planning on going to that banquet, are you?” Weldon said, instantly wary.

“Everyone here tonight holds influence in Hans. Don’t ruin this — make sure you play your part well,” Elmore instructed.

Elmore nodded, satisfied with her response.

He had thought Brielle’s usefulness had already run its course, but her quick release had surprised him.

Even without her status as a Chadwick, Brielle was still stunning.

If Elmore could use her beauty to secure a powerful alliance, it would be to his advantage.

After Elmore left, Brielle slipped out of the room as well. Remembering the message she had received, she quietly made her way toward the backyard, but stopped when she passed through the garden.

In the garden pavilion, Sadie was slumped over a table, her face alarmingly red. Brielle had planned to ignore her and keep walking, but after a few steps, she turned back and approached.

Out of everyone in the Figueroa family, Sadie had been the only one to show her any kindness.

“Sadie, why… why are you so hot?” Brielle had assumed Sadie was just drunk and resting, but when she touched her, the heat in Sadie’s skin shocked her. Combined with her flushed face, Brielle realized Sadie had been drugged.

She looked toward the backyard, hesitation flickering in her eyes.

After a moment, she made up her mind and tried to help Sadie to her feet.

Just then, hurried footsteps echoed from the direction of the main hall.

In the moonlight, Brielle saw Sean approaching.

She knew Sean was in Hans to meet Sadie.

As he came closer, Brielle, acting on instinct, pulled Sadie into a nearby room to hide her, then returned alone to the pavilion where Sadie had been.

“It’s you?” Sean said, startled to see Brielle.
