Chapter 178:
Relentless persuasion from Janessa finally wore Ricky down, and he told the driver to take him to the Stewart Group.
Arriving in the company’s grand lobby, Ricky found his path blocked by the receptionist almost as soon as he entered. Normally, he would have kept things cordial and asked the receptionist to arrange a meeting. Today, though, he decided to press his luck. “Mr. Stewart is my son-in-law. Are you sure you want to risk your job by stopping me p>
The receptionist bit back a curse and forced a smile while she reached for the phone. Since contacting Wyatt was out of her league, she had no choice but to reach out to Davin.
At that moment, Davin was inside Wyatt’s office, giving him an update on some projects. A message lit up his phone, and a small frown crossed his face. Wyatt kept his eyes on the computer, but he listened closely to Davin’s report. As soon as Davin stopped, Wyatt shot him an impatient look.
Davin caught the look and quickly explained, “Mr. Stewart, Mr. Flynn is here p>
Ricky’s earlier swagger vanished the instant he entered Wyatt’s office. He couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous. The reason was simple—Wyatt’s intimidating presence was hard to ignore. Since Wyatt was married to Amelia, he should have stood to greet Ricky. However, he remained seated.
Only when Ricky stood by the desk did Wyatt nod at the seat across from him. “Have a seat, Mr. Flynn p>
Hearing Wyatt’s cold greeting, Ricky felt displeasure simmer beneath the surface, but he kept his expression neutral. After taking a seat, he watched as Wyatt poured him a cup of coffee, a gesture that gave Ricky a fleeting sense of self-importance. Very few in Kretol had ever experienced Wyatt’s personal hospitality.
However, the confidence didn’t last. Ricky soon felt anxiety creeping in. After asking him to sit, Wyatt let the silence settle in the room. Ricky found himself wishing Wyatt would open the discussion, so he could slip in his request without awkwardness.

But when no words came from Wyatt, Ricky fumbled for something to say. When Davin stepped in to announce an upcoming meeting, Ricky knew he couldn’t stall any longer.
“Mr. Stewart, I’m here because I need your assistance.” He had wanted to address Wyatt by name, but a quick look into those cold eyes changed his mind.
Choosing not to delay, Ricky launched into his plea about the chip. He had fully expected Wyatt to turn him down, but, to his shock, Wyatt answered without hesitation, “I’m willing to let the Flynn Group have the chip p>
“Really?” Ricky asked. Wyatt’s swift agreement caught him completely off guard.
“But I do have one condition,” Wyatt said.
Those words made Ricky’s stomach twist with dread. Instinctively, he looked at Wyatt, waiting for him to continue.
“I want you to transfer five percent of your shares to Amelia, Mr. Flynn,” Wyatt said.
At that, disappointment washed over Ricky’s face. Not long ago, he had already given Amelia five percent of his shares just to save Dayna, on top of the sixty percent she already held. If he handed over another five percent, Amelia would hold seventy percent of the Flynn Group’s shares.
This realization made Ricky stand up from the sofa. “Mr. Stewart, I am Amelia’s father p>
He didn’t dare add that he was Wyatt’s father-in-law, but his tone made it clear. Wyatt picked up on the unspoken point, his lips curling with a hint of sarcasm. “I’m only asking for five percent because you’re her father. Otherwise, do you think you can get the Stewart Group’s chip so easily p>
Although anger simmered inside, Ricky couldn’t come up with a single rebuttal. The truth was undeniable. The Stewart Group’s chip was worth a fortune, which explained why he wanted it so badly.
Neither spoke for a long while, the silence thick in the room. Then Wyatt rose from his seat, prompting Ricky to cave in. “I’ll do it p>
Soon after, Davin entered, bringing the share transfer paperwork. Ricky pored over the contract, double-checking that the deal covered just five percent, then signed his name on the final page.
Once the ink was dry, Davin handed him a clear bag containing the prized chip made by the Stewart Group. Gone was his earlier hesitation. In its place, anticipation bubbled up. With this chip in hand, Ricky imagined all the deals and resources now within his reach.
Meanwhile, Amelia remained unaware that her father had visited Wyatt behind her back. So when Wyatt handed her the contract that evening, she looked puzzled and asked, “What is this p>
“Take a look p>
Amelia did as he suggested, her eyes widening when she noticed the share transfer details. Her anger grew as she read to the end and found her father’s signature. “Did my father come to see you behind my back p>
