Chapter 180:
“Amor, anyone else might have the right to say that, but not you p>
Wyatt had barely opened his mouth when Della cut in, fixing Amor with a cool stare.
Della continued, “Let’s be honest, the Garza family has already received more than enough from the Stewarts over the years p>
In the past, business ties kept the families close. The Garzas enjoyed a reputation not quite on par with the Stewarts but certainly influential in Kretol. That was why Amor had been able to marry Hamlin in the first place. However, as the years passed, the Garza family’s power declined significantly. Without the Stewart family’s support, they would have had no place in Kretol. Hamlin’s condition had also changed things. Out of guilt and responsibility, the Stewarts had extended help, offering both resources and support to keep the Garzas afloat.
None of this would have mattered to Della if Amor had kept her grievances to herself instead of stirring up trouble for Wyatt and Amelia.
Hearing that, Amor had nothing to offer in her defense.
Jaycob, hoping to shield his mother from further embarrassment, spoke up quickly. “My mother didn’t mean anything by it. The chip came from the company’s research division, and the Stewart family p>
“And who told you the chip was a result of company research p>
Wyatt had been holding his tongue, but he didn’t let Jaycob get far before cutting in.

With a pause and a hint of mockery, Jaycob answered, “Wasn’t it the company’s team who created this chip? That would make it a product of the company, wouldn’t it p>
“That’s true, the research team developed it. But I paid for everything out of my own pocket. Back when the research center brought this idea to the table, all of you dismissed it. Did you forget about that?” Wyatt said.
When development had first kicked off, none of the Stewarts—except for Erik—had given the project any real consideration.
Because of that, Wyatt had stepped in and personally funded the entire initiative. It was something the executives of the Stewart Group knew well, though the Stewart family members did not.
For a long time, Amelia also thought the chip was just another Stewart Group achievement. Realizing Wyatt had supported it on his own, she looked his way, admiration flickering in her eyes. To her, he seemed extraordinary now.
Catching that look, Wyatt let a small, proud smile play at the corners of his mouth.
“But even if you covered all the expenses, the people behind the project still drew paychecks from the company. Wouldn’t that mean…” Pattie simmered with complaints, but Wyatt’s stare quickly made her stop talking.
Those eyes carried a coldness so biting that it made her shiver.
Just then, Doug entered the room and drew everyone’s attention. With purposeful steps, he stopped before Wyatt and said with respect, “Mr. Stewart, your grandfather wishes to see you and your wife p>
Whispers rippled through the Stewart family at Doug’s message. A few cast jealous glances at Wyatt and Amelia, while others seemed eager to see them in trouble.
Without delay, Wyatt took hold of Amelia’s hand and led her up the stairs toward Conroy’s study. Doug pulled the door closed behind them and waited quietly outside.
