Chapter 339:
“Why are you even trying to join the company? All you’re good for is lounging around and indulging in your carefree lifestyle. Are you here just to make a fool of yourself p>
Colton’s mocking words rang out before Marcelo could respond to Lennie.
Lennie felt a surge of fury at Colton’s taunts. His first instinct was to lunge at him, but he recalled the advice he had received and forced himself to stay calm. He said, “Grandpa hasn’t made his decision yet, so who are you to pass judgment? You’ve been running the Mills Group for a few years, but don’t act like you’re the head of the Mills family. Grandpa’s still in charge of this family, isn’t he p>
“You p>
Colton was rendered momentarily speechless, his face reddening with anger, though a flicker of confusion crossed his eyes.
He had always known his cousin to be hotheaded and reckless, quick to start a fight.
In the past, Lennie would have snapped at the slightest provocation, but today, he responded with sharp reasoning instead of anger.
This was very odd.
Lennie, seeing Colton at a loss for words, felt a rush of triumph.
They were both grandsons of Marcelo, so why did Colton always act like he was above him? He needed to change that.
“Grandpa, I know I’ve been irresponsible in the past,” Lennie said earnestly, turning to Marcelo. “But I’m ready to change and prove myself now. If you let me join the Mills Group, I’ll work hard and learn the ropes p>

Marcelo, well aware of Lennie’s past behavior, raised a skeptical brow. “Do you truly mean that?” he asked.
Seeing the doubt in his grandfather’s eyes, Lennie replied with a solemn expression, “Yeah, I’m serious about this, Grandpa p>
Though Marcelo remained unconvinced, Lennie’s resolute demeanor softened his stance slightly.
Colton, noticing the shift in Marcelo’s expression, quickly interjected, “Grandpa, don’t you remember that incident with the female employee? She quit because of Lennie’s actions p>
Marcelo’s expression hardened again at the reminder.
Lennie’s blood boiled. He wanted to punch Colton for bringing up that incident. That woman had flirted with him first, but when caught, she had spun the story to paint him as the harasser.
Worse, Lennie later discovered that Colton had orchestrated the whole thing. Marcelo had nearly disowned him over it, and with the woman having left Kretol, Lennie had no way to clear his name. He had been forced to swallow the injustice.
But today, things would be different. Someone was going to help him get his revenge. Glancing at the clock on the wall, Lennie silently counted down.
Three. Two.
One.
Right on cue, as the clock hit eight, the door burst open.
“Sir, we’ve got a problem!” Bruno rushed into the study, clutching a tablet.
He set the device on the desk, where a news report was already playing.
“The Mills Group’s new real estate project flagged for dangerously high formaldehyde levels; inspectors declare it unsafe… Materials used in the Mills Group’s new project are substandard, and there’s already a collapse before occupancy p>
A heavy silence fell over the room. Marcelo’s eyes blazed with fury as he fixed his gaze on Colton.
