Visibly relieved, Lennie soon left Hillside Villa.
Watching him go, Amelia chuckled. “I don’t think Lennie caught the full meaning of your words p>
“That doesn’t matter. It’s enough if his grandfather does,” Wyatt replied.
Three days later, at the Davis Group.
“We had a deal, didn’t we? Why did Dustin back out at the last minute?” Amelia asked.
“Another company came in with a bigger budget and better share terms,” Rocco explained.
Amelia’s brow furrowed when she heard that.
The handheld computer had been a market hit, and Amelia aimed to capitalize on it by developing a tailored office app.
The Davis Group’s R&D team lacked expertise in this area, so Rocco had contacted Dustin Lopez’s software-specialized team.
They had agreed on a five-million-dollar investment from the Davis Group, with Dustin’s team providing the tech and taking a 20% stake.
Today was set for signing the contract, but Dustin abruptly backed out.
“What exactly did he say?” Amelia asked.
“He’s demanding ten million and a 30% stake for his team. If we meet those terms, he says he will consider working with our company first,” Rocco replied.
“Just consider?” Amelia’s frown deepened.
Before Rocco could answer, she added icily, “Cancel the deal with him and blacklist his team from future projects p>
Rocco hesitated. “If we drop this now, all our work so far will be for nothing p>
“But if we give in now, he’ll only push harder next time,” Amelia said firmly.
“Have you found out which company snatched this project?” Amelia interjected.
“Not yet. From what we’ve found, the company doesn’t seem to be based in Kretol p>
Amelia sank into thought at Rocco’s words.
Since Amelia’s marriage to Wyatt became public, every company in Kretol knew the CEO of the Davis Group was Wyatt’s wife.
As a result, few local companies dared to snatch the Davis Group’s projects.
Because of the incident with the project, Amelia stayed late at the office, not returning to Hillside Villa until after eight in the evening.
Wyatt, who had been working at home while waiting for her, closed his laptop as she walked in.
