Chapter 437
Chapter 437:
At that moment, the group came to a halt.
Joselyn, who was leading the way, noticed the flicker of caution in Marc’s eyes and laughed lightly. “What’s wrong? Are you afraid I’m going to harm you?” Before Marc could respond, she continued, “If I had any intention of harming you, you would be powerless to stop me. My blood has healing properties, but Wyatt’s wounds are grave, and that creature could return at any moment. I suggest you follow me to the village first p>
With that, Joselyn continued forward.
Watching Barrie carry the unconscious Wyatt, Marc contemplated for a moment before deciding to follow Joselyn with the others.
Their phones, soaked in swamp mud earlier, were useless, leaving them cut off from the outside world.
Marc had administered medicine to Wyatt after pulling him from the thicket, and Joselyn had given him two drops of her blood, yet he remained unresponsive. Even in his unconscious state, he gripped the backpack fiercely, resisting Marc’s attempts to take it.
Halfway up the mountain, Joselyn paused. Following her line of sight, Marc and the others spotted a scattering of log cabins nestled among the slopes.
Joselyn swiftly made her way to the central cabin. When Marc and his group arrived, they found only an elderly man with white hair lying on a bed.
“May I take my share of the wildroot panax first?” Joselyn asked, her eyes brimming with urgency.
Before Marc could answer, Barrie’s alarmed shout cut through the air. Wyatt, whom Barrie had just set down, was burning with fever.
Marc touched Wyatt’s forehead, feeling an intense heat beneath his hand. “Miss Henderson, could we trouble you to find a bed for him?” Marc asked, his voice tight with concern.

“Pick any empty cabin around here,” Joselyn replied softly. “The rest of the village has moved elsewhere. Only my grandfather and I live here now p>
After settling Wyatt, Marc turned his attention back to Joselyn.
Wyatt in a nearby cabin, Marc agreed to let Joselyn take her portion of the wildroot panax.
There was an issue, however — Wyatt’s grip on the backpack was unrelenting, thwarting any attempt to retrieve the wildroot panax.
Soon after being laid down, Wyatt began murmuring Amelia’s name. Hearing that, Joselyn turned to Marc with curiosity. “Who’s Amelia p>
Before he could reply, she added, “Is she his wife p>
Marc nodded and said, “He risked everything to find the wildroot panax for her p>
“And what about you? Do you have a wife?” Joselyn suddenly asked.
The cabin was cramped, and with Barrie and his team exhausted and resting in other cabins, only Marc, Joselyn, and the unconscious Wyatt were here.
Marc was caught off guard by Joselyn’s question, but as he met her bright eyes, he, a playboy, found himself unexpectedly flustered.
Clearing his throat, he said, “Miss Henderson, why do you ask p>
“If you’re not married, what do you think of me p>
“Are you… teasing me?” Marc asked.
“I am not. In our culture, we take marriage very seriously,” Joselyn said, her smile steady, her gaze earnest.
Her clear, radiant eyes left Marc feeling a sudden warmth in his cheeks.
Just then, a commotion broke out outside.
“I’ll go see what’s happening,” Marc said, hastily exiting the cabin.
A playful spark danced in Joselyn’s eyes as she watched him go.
“Mrs. Stewart, you are here!” Barrie exclaimed in shock.
Barrie and his team had rushed out of their cabins at the sound of footsteps. Spotting a group of border patrol officers in camouflage, they were startled until they noticed Amelia among them.
Amelia’s face lit up with relief at the sight of familiar faces, her eyes immediately scanning for Wyatt. “Barrie, where is Wyatt?” she asked.
Before Barrie could finish, Amelia rushed toward Marc.
Marc, still nursing his own injuries, nearly stumbled when she grabbed him. Mindful of Amelia’s pregnancy with triplets, he quickly reassured her, “Don’t worry; Wyatt’s alright! He’s hurt, but his life isn’t at risk p>
Seeing Wyatt’s unconscious form, Amelia couldn’t hold back her tears.
Pregnancy had made her emotions uncontrollable, and although knowing Wyatt wasn’t in mortal danger, she couldn’t stop crying.
Still, with others nearby, she fought to compose herself.
Learning that Joselyn was waiting for her share of the wildroot panax, Amelia gently reached for the backpack in Wyatt’s hold.
As she tugged lightly, Wyatt, still unconscious, tightened his grip on the backpack.
Sensing his resistance, Amelia said in a soft voice, “Wyatt, it’s me p>
At her words, Wyatt, who had clung to the backpack tightly for a long time, suddenly released his hold.
