Through their conversation, Amelia gathered that after leaving the military, Nora had taken over the family business. She had come to Hans for business matters as well.

Amelia kept telling herself she should trust Wyatt and not overthink it. But watching Wyatt and Nora talk so naturally, so effortlessly — she couldn’t help herself.

“I’m rather tired. I’ll go back to the room and rest first,” she said.

Wyatt immediately told Nora, “We’ll talk later. I’ll take Amelia back so she can rest p>

Once they were inside the room and Amelia had showered, she lay down on the bed.

Seeing how down she seemed, Wyatt assumed she was still upset about everything involving the Chadwick family and didn’t think much of it.

It wasn’t until he reached out to comfort her and she pushed his hand away that he realized something was wrong.

“Amelia, what’s the matter?” he asked.

Amelia stayed silent, lying on her side with her back to him.

The moment he touched her, she instinctively tried to pull away, but no matter how she struggled, he held on firmly.

Nora’s voice was low and slurred; she was clearly drunk.

If Amelia hadn’t been upset, Wyatt would have agreed without hesitation.

But now, after thinking for a moment, he said, “Send me your location. I’ll have Barrie pick you up p>

Amelia felt suddenly awkward.
