Facing Weldon’s stern gaze, Shepard calmly laid out his plan.

Ever since uncovering that Brielle was an impostor, Shepard had been quietly keeping track of her every move.

He also knew exactly how Elmore saw Brielle.

The situation Brielle was trapped in now had been created largely by Elmore, and Shepard was certain Brielle resented him for it.

Elmore had been deceiving the Chadwick family for years, and Shepard was determined to settle that debt.

The first step of his plan was to send Brielle — who secretly hated Elmore — back into the Figueroa family.

Just then, Shepard’s phone lit up with a new message.

After scanning Marlon’s text, a cold glint flickered in his eyes.

The news that Elmore was hosting a formal event to publicly acknowledge Brielle as part of the family was definitely interesting.

But it was the last line of Marlon’s message that truly stunned him.

“Stay here with Amelia. I’m heading to the Figueroa estate,” Shepard told Weldon.

Instead of answering, Shepard handed him his phone so he could read the message himself.

Meanwhile, Amelia lay awake, restless and unable to sleep. Whether it was because she was in an unfamiliar room, or because Wyatt wasn’t there, she couldn’t tell. She tossed and turned in bed.

Just as she was about to step onto the balcony for some air, there was a knock at the door.

“Come in,” she called softly.

Hearing her voice, Weldon pushed the door open.

His room was next to hers, and he had rushed over the moment he heard movement.

“What are you doing here? Is Shepard asleep?” Amelia asked.

“He went to the Figueroa family’s banquet, and also to—” Weldon began, then stopped himself, wishing he could take the words back. Seeing Amelia’s confused expression, he had no choice but to admit, “He went to the banquet Elmore is holding to bring Brielle back into the family p>

“So, Brielle’s been released? Shepard arranged that?” Amelia wasn’t surprised.

The Chadwick family had raised Brielle for more than twenty years. It was understandable that they still felt something for her.

Even so, Amelia couldn’t help the small sting of discomfort she felt.

Noticing her expression shift, Weldon hurried to explain. “It’s not what you think. Shepard’s doing it to go after Elmore p>

He quickly revealed Shepard’s entire plan to Amelia.
