Chapter 478
Chapter 478:
Sean caught sight of Brielle in the pavilion, and shock crossed his face.
After receiving those photos, Sadie had refused to ever meet him again. But for the Carrillo family to gain a foothold in Hans quickly, they needed the support of one of the three powerful families in the city. Forming a marriage alliance was still the most effective way to link two families.
Sean felt nothing for Sadie, but he had intended to use her to secure cooperation between their families.
After Sadie rejected him, he took his chance that night by having someone tamper with her drink.
When he saw Sadie stumbling off, he immediately went after her.
What he had not expected was to run into Brielle in the pavilion instead.
“Mr. Carrillo, I understand exactly what you’re trying to do p>
Just as he was about to leave, Sean stopped at Brielle’s words and turned to face her.

“I have no idea what you mean p>
“Mr. Carrillo, Sadie and I are both part of the Chadwick family. No matter which one of us you choose, your goal is the same. Since Sadie clearly refuses to marry you, why not consider me instead?” Brielle said.
Sean burst into laughter at that, as if she’d just told a joke.
“Why are you laughing p>
“I’m laughing because you think you’re worth that much,” Sean said.
Before Brielle could respond, he went on, “Even if you’re part of the Figueroa family, you hold no real status. I don’t see how marrying you would help me achieve anything p>
At his open contempt, Brielle’s hands clenched tightly.
Sean glanced around but saw no sign of Sadie, so he decided to leave. After all, this was the Figueroa family’s backyard. Staying too long was unwise.
Just as he turned to go, Brielle darted forward and grabbed onto him.
“Let go of me p>
Ignoring him, Brielle only tightened her grip.
Brielle fully understood that Elmore’s true motive for arranging tonight’s family recognition banquet was to auction her off to the wealthiest suitor. Not wanting to be handed over to some elderly stranger, she believed Sean represented the chance she had been waiting for.
A chilling glint surfaced in Sean’s gaze as he pried apart her arms, trying to break free. Taking advantage of that moment, Brielle tore open her own collar and pinched her neck several times. Then she released a piercing scream.
Inside the front hall of the Figueroa estate,
“Miss Griffiths, our company has already finalized cooperation with the Carrillo family. For that reason, I must decline your generous proposal p>
