Chapter 487
Chapter 487:
When Wyatt rushed toward the entrance, he caught only a glimpse of Amelia’s car turning the corner and disappearing.
On instinct, he pulled out his phone to call her — but after a moment of hesitation, he slid it back into his pocket.
Marc didn’t look surprised to see him return.
“So,” Marc said, “what’s going on between you and Nora? Don’t tell me that little crush of yours is acting up again. If that’s what’s happening, I p>
“What nonsense are you talking about?” Wyatt cut in, his tone ice-cold.

Wyatt and Nora had in fact grown up together. Their connection went all the way back to childhood.
Because Polly had been close with Nora’s grandmother, Nora had spent more time in the Stewart home than in her own.
Marc had never known for sure whether Wyatt had ever truly liked Nora, but back when they were young, she had been the only girl who stayed close to him.
If this had involved any other woman, Marc wouldn’t have cared. But because it was Nora, there was always that lingering doubt.
“There’s nothing between Nora and me. We’re just friends,” Wyatt said firmly.
Still, something flickered in his eyes as Marc mentioned the past.
Back then, there might have been a kind of quiet admiration for Nora — but it had been nothing more than a childish thrill, not even real affection.
“If there’s really nothing between you and Nora, then you’d better make things clear to Amelia fast. Otherwise p>
Marc’s words were cut short when the ward door flew open from a hard kick.
Della stormed in, fury burning in her eyes.
“Mom, what are you doing here?” Wyatt asked.
“If I hadn’t come, how else would I have found out about your shameless behavior? Wyatt, after your father’s mistakes, you still haven’t learned. You’re repeating the same things. How could you do something like this p>
As she spoke, Della stepped forward and smacked Wyatt across the back several times with force.
Wyatt hadn’t expected Della to start hitting him, and his back took several hard blows before he even understood what she was talking about.
He quickly caught her wrist to stop her. “It’s not what you think p>
“If you really didn’t do anything wrong, then why did Amelia leave Hillside Villa?” Della demanded.
After learning that Amelia had returned from Hans, Della had gathered a pile of gifts and gone to Hillside Villa to visit her. But Amelia wasn’t there.
Kurt told her that Amelia hadn’t gone home at all — she was staying in her old apartment instead.
Remembering that, Della looked at Wyatt with growing anger. “Amelia went through so much carrying your child, and you’re out getting involved with another woman p>
“I already said, it’s not what you think,” Wyatt cut in, his eyes full of frustration.
Seeing that Della still clearly didn’t believe him, he lowered his voice and continued, “Nora ran into trouble in Hans and needed my help p>
He gave her a brief account of what had happened in Hans. Little by little, the fury in Della’s expression faded.
When he finished, Della said quietly, “When you see Amelia again, I suggest you be honest with her. Tell her what has happened between you and Nora in the past p>
“There’s nothing between Nora and me. It’s completely p>
“Nothing?” Della raised a brow. “Weren’t you nearly engaged to her before p>
Before Wyatt could respond, she went on, “Don’t think I don’t know. You used to have feelings for Nora p>
Wyatt let out a breath and said irritably, “I was just a kid back then. I didn’t even know what love was p>
It wasn’t until Amelia entered his life that he understood what real love meant.
Della let out a sharp snort. “Men are never satisfied. None of you know how to stay loyal p>
“Mom, I’m your son. Why would you say that to me?” Wyatt protested.
Della only rolled her eyes at him.
Meanwhile, Amelia knew nothing about the conversation between Wyatt and his mother. She had already gone back to her apartment.
The next morning, the doorbell rang.
Worried the noise might wake Amelia, Weldon hurried out of the study and opened the door.
“Amelia, I— who are you?” Della stopped short when she saw the handsome man standing in front of her.
She had no idea about Amelia’s connection to the Chadwick family.
Seeing Weldon in Amelia’s apartment first thing in the morning — and especially seeing that he was still in sleepwear — sent her thoughts spinning.
Her eyes widened.
Oh no, she thought.
Her son’s woman was about to be stolen by another man.
