With the wedding dress fitting complete, Amelia changed into her usual attire, and together, she and Wyatt traveled to Kretol City Hospital.
After the call with Amelia, Darwin had been waiting for her at the hospital entrance. Observing Amelia and Wyatt exit the vehicle, he hurriedly walked toward them.
“The doctor said Dayna has little time left. Mrs. Stewart, we must hurry,” he said.
Upon hearing that, Amelia halted briefly, then hastened her stride.
As soon as she neared the hospital room, she heard Janessa’s weeping.
After Dayna became entangled in gambling and squandered all her money, Janessa had given up on her. Still, upon receiving Darwin’s message, Janessa had rushed to the hospital. Seeing Dayna dying, she felt the resentment in her heart vanish. It was impossible for any mother to sever herself entirely from her child.

Every individual in the room was stunned by Amelia’s words, most of all Janessa. She looked at Dayna with reddened eyes.
Dayna nodded with strain, her breathing heavy.
Amelia’s expression grew more conflicted when she saw Dayna nod, yet she still said, “I will not take care of your mother. I am indebted to you for nothing. However, I will provide her with some money p>
From the shares Ricky disposed of earlier, Amelia had obtained a vast sum. She could part with a portion of that amount for Janessa, but that was the extent of what she would do for her.
When Dayna heard Amelia’s initial denial, her eyes were laden with disappointment. Yet when she heard the latter portion of her reply, a trace of gratitude appeared in her expression.
Dayna’s lips shifted twice beneath the oxygen mask. Before Amelia could make out what she attempted to convey, the monitor beside the bed began beeping.
